But Saturday might be a good one for Barlaser to start actually. I wouldn’t be surprised. It might freshen it up a bit and catch Preston off guard.

Dya think maybe we should have brought Mowatt and Barlaser together on to get some control in midfield and maybe went 433. Easy to sit here now and say that but I was thinking it about ten minutes after Barlasers introduction aswell in fairness
 
Lad is getting upto speed on what is expected in the team He is clearly nervous and is telegraphing his passes. He will settle down and it will be more natural. Give him a chance. There is a good footballer in there

I think Hackney did well to stay on the pitch because he had his worst game for us today, just couldn’t get going. Maybe Howson could’ve stayed on and Hackney was the one to make way.

I’m not a massive fan of Mowatt to be fair, I wouldn’t trust him to play a key part in a game that was on a knife edge. He’s okay if we’re comfortable.

Yeah but a change of shape may of been needed. Mowatt shown a lot more recently than Barlaser. Think a 3 of Howson, Mowatt and Barlaser for the last 25 mins may of got us some control in regards to passing and maybe Barlaser would have been more suited to that too. Oh well, it’s done now.
 
Still very early days but I have to give an honest assessment of what I've seen so far, and I haven't been impressed.

There was a moment late on in the game when he went after the ball down the right-hand side and he was knocked off it so easily by their defender.

His passing is surprisingly poor, as his decision-making at times.

Was that the time where he sort of jogged to to try and win it and let their player get infront of him to win it? Where as if he sprinted he would have easily got to the ball. That wound me up at the time

Think this was another moment where he went for a 50/50 and their player shoulder barged him off the ball.
 
You can see there’s a player in there, he’s got the eye for a ball. Maybe will just take a little while to get used to his teammates.

Christ when did I become the level headed one on here?

I do hope so cos he was clearly well thought of at Rotherham. He really needs a couple of starts in the team but he’s not really ready to be thrown in judging off his appearances so it’s a tricky one to navigate.
 
It is very early for Barlaser, but its fair to say he has not impressed me at all and was really poor tonight. His passing has been abysmal.
If he is our Howson replacement ( I don’t think he is) then I would be concerned so far.
But it is early days.
I too would say McNair was about the only bright spark tonight other than Akpom.
It was a bad performance, but Stoke played us really well.
The pile on to Diego expressing a reasonable opinion is strange. The board is healthier for opinions.
