Covid - Kent strain mutates to South African strain...

We need this universal vaccine that has been mentioned and no doubt will come along and deal with all strains.

Until then all the government cheerleaders harping on about vaccine supply success are being disingenuous because there are global factors at work which as always mean we can’t just behave and think like an island. The vaccine is as good as its ability to cope with the new foreign variants.

And I think you're a complete and utter buffoon for ignoring what is information that is backed up by scientists.

I've many times thought I might as well be dead as opposed to living life this way, hence me not wanting to lockdown continually.

Nobody is being asked to lockdown continually, just long enough to lessen the impact of a virus which kills people. Is that too much to ask?
However you phrase it your statement "vaccines are useless " is completely and totally without scientific backing of any kind.
Continually posting anecdotal accounts about how the vaccine makes people feel terribly ill, and now deliberately miscontruing information to say the vaccine is "useless" makes it blindingly obvious that you have an agenda. An unpleasant and malicious one.

Everything I have posted is based on first hand knowledge or on information reported.

The scientists have said it is concerning and that it Could bypass the current jab/ immune system. Should we just ignore that? 🤔

Testing for a new variant that is now unable to be traced back to travel can hardly be dismissed as just looking for cases, its possibly the only sensible thing we have done through this entire pandemic to get things under control

Exactly this. The current vaccines are extremely effective against the original strain. The fact they are slightly less effective against this strain doesn't mean they are not effective, that they are not doing their job. There are things to be worried about in the world without spreading fake panic like the OP.

You seem determined to convince yourself we are going to be in lockdown for the rest of our lives, and thats fine that you feel that way, but when so many on here are openly struggling with the thought of things going on like this any longer, do you think these type of posts every few days are sensible?
 
The lockdown is perhaps one tiny aspect in this whole horrible affair -- the real issues is the millions of people left unemployed by this situation-- the vaccine will take months to validate -- perhaps years so are we saying we'll just print money to keep everyone locked down or unemployed...surely not.

Is there any new data for the AZ vaccine, which had 62% efficacy for the two dose stage 3 trial results?
 
Vaccines are not there to stop everyone getting the virus, instead they are there to lessen the impacts for those that do.

I agree misinformation is really really dangerous at this time.

It’s the insipid slow chipping away at the vaccine that I find the most worrying as anti vaxers are normally upfront but it’s the ones that try to undermine it that I really do despair for.

Can you see any evidence to say we won't be in any form of lockdown or restrictions for the rest of life?
Perth went into lockdown because one case was found. Whitty has already said restrictions may be needed next winter so that's pretty much a given then. We are told they don't know if getting vaccinated stops the spread of the virus, wouldn't that have been a handy thing to try and find during the process of development? Of course of the vaccine prevents hospital admissions and deaths that's superb but those on charge will be looking at the what ifs.

Sorry but these last few days have shown me that those in charge of running the country and those who are giving advice to those running the country have no other strategy other than lockdown.

Well if the vaccine doesn't work to cover the new strains which the scientists are talking about then do you think they will just lift us from lockdown life?

If they find out it does indeed not cover the new strains then we will remain as we are. To think otherwise would be silly.

It’s the Kent strain, the South African strain we’ve now heard those pesky Brazilians have a different strain etc etc. Come on lad get with the programme!
