Coventry v Sunderland.

Because we haven't those players at the club. It's as simple as that.
Mackems are in a bit of a weird place, they have a system that works fairly well, they have some defensive grit, and a weapon to
Hit on the break .but defensive grit is hard to maintain and isnt Isidore only on loan? If they get recruitment wrong, which they easily could, they could go backwards despite having what seems on paper a stronger squad.

I’d absolutely make Sheff u the faves going forward

Sunderland scored two goals in the playoffs from two passes. Two for the first goal and none for the second. Possession football eh. Wonder what Guardiola / Carrick thought of it?

Sunderland had better chances. They had 2 big chances (scored 1).
Just out of interest, which out of Isidor’s or Mayenda’s goals wasn’t classed as a ‘big chance’? Because if that’s true, it just shows that the classification is complete b******s.

I'm trying to think of another decent chance Coventry created apart from the goal? When the played us, they could have been a few goals up in the first half, Sunderland had a game plan to stifle Coventry and hit them on the break...

Always preferred to see Sunderland win this one as the disappointment of losing out on an EPL place at Wembley will hurt them so much more

Isidor was made permanent in January I think.

And what you say about getting recruitment wrong and going backwards, that surely applies to every club on the planet.

Sunderland have disproved that form theory by winning that game. Fancy them to go up now and I do not think that having the Mackems and Leeds out of Boro’s way is a bad thing.

Sunderland deserve to be in the final, 100%

They've been great this season, played a certain way and it's worked.

Sheffield Utd are still favourites and will win most games v Sunderland, but it's a one off now and that reduces the odds.

Sunderland have some excellent players, some of which will move on if they fall short, Utd have the parachute payments and will be strong again next season if the lose the final.

I still fancy Utd strongly, but like I say, it's a one off cup final.

Fair play Mackems, good result last night, but neither Coventry or Sunlun are anywhere near as good as Sheff Utd… promotion is theirs to throw away, way better side

Ah missed that.

Of course it does, I just think their team has great chemistry, players that compliment and that could easily be lost even though incoming players seem better. We don’t really have great chemistry. We don’t really have a back four with any chemistry, Hackney and Morris looked a good partnership early in the season but seems more misfit and a step back from Hackney and Howson. The three behind the cf don’t interchange at all well, Whittaker and Azaz were supposed to be on the same wavelength but haven’t shown it. For us changes are more likely to work than for Sunderland in my opinion.

Even if Sunderland do go up, It'll be fun watching them getting banjoed every week
I agree

But then the long term picture won't be as great to laugh at as they'll be in receipt of parachute payments, meaning they can build their club and challenge for promotion the following season on a much larger budget.

Going up and getting slapped all over is much better for the club due to the huge amount of revenue received, than just flirting around mid table of the 2nd division on a budget.

Burnley keep yo-yo'ing, Leeds have done and Sheff Utd look to be. As well as Saints and Leicester. And their books will be much healthier than ours.

Fulham did it too...and now look at them.
