Coventry v Sunderland.

I agree

But then the long term picture won't be as great to laugh at as they'll be in receipt of parachute payments, meaning they can build their club and challenge for promotion the following season on a much larger budget.

Going up and getting slapped all over is much better for the club due to the huge amount of revenue received, than just flirting around mid table of the 2nd division on a budget.

Burnley keep yo-yo'ing, Leeds have done and Sheff Utd look to be. As well as Saints and Leicester. And their books will be much healthier than ours.

Fulham did it too...and now look at them.

The yoyo string snaps eventually though as it has for Norwich, Watford and WBA

Sunderland had better chances. They had 2 big chances (scored 1). We had 1 and missed 1. Coventry had 5 big chances against us and only scored 1 so we were probably lucky to only lose by 2. A lot of our chances were hopeless potshots from outside the area.

If we are writing about the same game as me you need to look at those stats and watch the highlights of the 3rd May game

You have just posted we had 19 hopeless pot shots out of 21 goal attempts.

Never knew it was that much actually about the gate receipts/tv rev - 12/15 mill or whatever it is ain't bad at all just for reaching the final.

But the loser gets to keep the gate and tv money, somewhere in the area of 5 million?
Think it has to be agreed between the teams in advance doesn't it?

But not aware of any instances of it not being agreed to. Footy is an unpredictable sport and the prem money on offer absolutely dwarfs it, so you'd have to be crazily reckless not to agree to it.

I didn't. I said a lot were. 9 of them were from outside the area. 1.47xG from 21 shots means there was a lot of low chance efforts.

It's just the stats. There's no opinion involved.

Nano - you said we only has 2 good chances. see your own post below.

The BBC quoted 21 goal attempts for Boro.

Basicially we had more than 2 good chances. As I stated watch the highlights.

The losers.

“The fate of the losing team in the Championship play-off final largely depends on the financial stability of the club in question. The winners usually pay the losing team a share of the gate receipts, which is seen as a traditional gentleman's agreement. Their share is usually in the region of £2m. There have been occasions where this sum has been different. Huddersfield Town and Reading had an agreement in place before the 2017 play-off final, that the losing side would receive £4m. Reading received the consolation prize after missing out on a place in the Premier League on penalties to the Terriers”.
