Council tax refund

Council Tax band was a stupid way to do this. The street I live on has houses of slightly different sizes with bands D to F. Ours is band E so we don’t get it, house next door band D get it. Do we need it? Not really. Do they? Well with both being high ranking police officers and having two sports cars on the drive, I’d suggest not

I moved house and councils (York to Hambleton) on 16th March… got no idea who should be paying me the £150… or by when.

It will be Hambleton, it's whichever council you were liable with on 1st April.

I can see from the 'upcoming transactions' section of my online banking that I will receive the rebate tomorrow. Stockton Borough Council.

Stockton sent messages out yesterday via social media etc saying they would be starting to send payments out on Friday 22nd

I just noticed it in my bank account last night.

No communication from the council about it, even if I log on to my Council Tax account, there's seemingly no mention of it.

Bit mad where you and your missus could live in a Band E property, both in average paid jobs and not get it. Next door live in a Band D rake in £100k between them and get the rebate. Bigger rebates should have been given to those most in financial need, not just broad-brushing based on house size. Another token government action unfortunately, keeps people happy coming up to the elections ........
