Cost to buy Giles, Archer and Ramsay?

"Aston Villa looking at £9m+ for Archer" - £10m feels right
"£7m for Ramsey" - £6m would be top whack
"£3.5m would be my guess" - a little on the cautious side.. probably after hearing £10m banded about

"around £20m for the three" - I'll stand by this £10m for Archer, £5m for Giles and then £4.5m to £6m for Archer depending on the current state of play.

"around £20m" comfortably within the range of £19.5m to £21m
Would you sell Akpom to fund these 3? I would

from what I’ve seen of him I believe Wagner looks a decent fit for the Archer role, so perhaps we’ve saved a bundle there. I’d take Ramsey for £5m mind you, Giles despite his assist record with us I’m not totally sold on for the price tag but perhaps we can negotiate and bring him in for a more manageable fee.

Could be possible to sign all three for 20-30m guaranteed with substantial bonus and sell-on clauses. Depends on what Villa prefer.

Wagner?

Spence had three solid seasons in the Championship including a promotion and several top notch performances against premier league opposition. Tavernier with four solid Championship seasons consistently very good.

Archer and Ramsey are decent prospects but don’t come anywhere near I’m afraid.

Not to say that they couldn’t surpass those levels.. but they are no where near.

East to get caught up in the hype.. but they are no where near.

£16m for the pair is a very good return for Villa.. top end fees.
Newy

Spence was two full seasons and Tav was three full seasons. Pulis hardly played Tav. Woody gave Spence his debut in Nov 2019 he was sold by the summner od 2022

Archer got 10 goals in 3 months in open play and just scored twice for England u21s (champions of Europe). Ramsay 5 goals in 2 months in open play.

OK both its alot more potential than games.

Spence
19/20 - 22 apps
20/21 - 38 apps
21/22 - 42 apps (including promotion)

Spence vs Spurs and Arsenal made him the big ticket transfer.

Tavernier
2018/19 - 20
2019/20 - 37
2020/21 - 29
2021/22 - 44

Redwurzel, have a look..

Archer
2021/22 - 20
2022/23 - 20

Ramsey
2021/22 - 14 (league one)
2022/23 - 29

they are not the same they are nowhere near. we haven’t seen Archer do a full season in the championship yet.. Ramsey has one full season in the championship and it’s resulted in two operations!

they both did well in our team for the short while they were with us.. the season didn’t end in promotion and how did they both do at the business end?

the potential is there.. but there are huge questions still to be answered.

Neither has played a full season in the championship! (or anywhere else)

Do you honestly believe that two youngsters who have both played for top end Championship clubs along with all England age groups by their 20th birthday would be that cheap?

Plus, as I said, it depends on how villa want a deal structured.

Pure speculation obviously, but I’m wonder if we could get the trio for £20m, and if we could, would you consider that good business in the current transfer climate?

£5m > Giles
£10m > Archer
£5m > Ramsay

I would say it be a great bit of business given the age of them, and the potential of the lads.

Or even cheaper, an extension of there loans for another year? Bit cheeky maybe!!
Archer and Ramsey are out of your price range and that of 90% of championship clubs, Giles is **** poor at defending but Wolves will probably demand a lot more the £5m for him

Kai Wagner?

What do you think of Novatus Miroshi?

Even at those prices it's beyond our means I think.

It seems that we make a loss of at least £10m a season, so that's not a good starting point.

Ramsey is linked with a transfer to Burnley at £12m and I think Archer will go for more than £10m, so you're princely looking at £30m, plus big contracts for them too.

Loans are an effective way of adding young PL talent to strengthen, but they we've been over reliant on them last season, which we are now trying to address.
