Controversial opinion

We played some good football but we didn't have a decent GK in goal, or a striker up front.

Why didn't Dieng start?

Why does he persist with Greenwood up front when we have Forss who is an actual striker?

We've gone with Greenwood as a striker for 5 games now and we've won 1, drawn 2 and lost 2. Greenwood hasn't scored in any of the games.

Played really well from 70 minutes - think Howsons and Hackney's legs went at that point and their coach made a good call to increase the press with fresh legs.

Great save by their keeper from Forss - Many of our blocked 20 yard shots were from better positions than the two that deflected fortuitously for them.

But disappointing last 20.

And must have been soul destroying to the players to see that deflection just after equalising.

Do think the playoffs will be too far now, but would like a bit more flexibility from Carrick. If Jones, Lath and Coburn's fitness is worse than we thought let Hoppe at least have 20 minutes.

Can't blame him too much though.

Desperately missing Jones who was having a great season and I think Azaz more of a typical striker in front of him because he plays deeper than Rogers.

Agree with most on here. Our best keeper should start. Individual defensive mistakes are costing us. We clearly need a striker. All problems that need fixing.

But even a top striker would struggle in this team. For all our nice passing and movement (which was excellent tonight) our final ball is often awful, as is our crossing and set pieces.

Boro totally dominated most aspects of the game. Preston created one clear chance, which Glover saved, and scored the winner from a lucky deflection.

How on earth we end up losing that. It’s typical of the season in many ways.
They also had a man played through late on who should have definitely scored but he took a touch instead of a shot.

We had loads of the ball but they had the best chances. You don't get anything for nice passing around the box.

We were dominating then their keeper went down with an “injury” and they rejigged it a bit. After that they looked more likely to score.😒

loosing to a Poor PNE team who defended in numbers with brick shiithouse players is not playing well. Playing well is putting the 5 or 6 chances away ... whatever the players chosen to play

I've just checked the xG. Preston 1.17, Boro 0.92. We had 20 shots so an xG of less than 1 is impressively bad.

People are being foolish if they think having a lot of the ball is the same as playing well. We created no chances and we defended badly.

Let's have it said. Preston were utterly *****, just as they were when we beat them 4-0. They had 3 shots, we had 20 attempts and we found a way to lose to them. They must be wondering how that happened. I certainly was, until I remembered that Glover had managed to avoid saving their first with a reprise of his Sunderland flop.

Some of our midfield play going forward was the best I have seen for a long time. Azaz and McGree will cause Championship teams a lot of problems.

I would swap Greenwood and Forss positions.

Leave Ayling on

Bring Dieng back.

Otherwise keep it the same.

All the deflctions seem to go Preston's way and a key refereeing decision- it will change.

Agree with that except playing Greenwood on the right, he’s worse there than he is up front.
Forss up top, Silvera right until Jones is back

This is a good point. Not enough clear chances created. Not sure we would have taken them though.

Boro are 5th in the season XG table. Preston are second bottom.
