Conservative Campaign HQ employees enjoying a law breaking Christmas party in December 2020

fair point, but will they be disgusted enough not to vote Tory next time, or just mildly disgusted, and still vote Tory because they couldnt bring themselves to vote Labour?
Time will tell, and a lot will depend on how Labour come across I suppose.
Also it is possible that by the time the GE comes around, those involved with Partygate will be banished and a fresh new Conservative Party might persuade people who are inherently Tory to vote that way again.
But however people decide to vote they should still be welcome to post on here.

I joined twenty years ago to discuss mainly football. You seemed to have joined 2 months ago to talk about tory voters and to promote Labour.
This board and its predecessor has never been just about football or even mainly football. Ask the forum owner for confirmation. If you think I joined two months ago you're not very observant. Regardless, have you missed where I've posted about Boro, football in general, beer and music?
With regard to the thread title, who it was aimed for and how it came across are two different things.
Nobody else, and I mean nobody, thought the thread title was aimed at Tory voters. Just you. In fact it wasn't 'aimed' at anyone. It simply reflected my absolute disgust at a group of Conservative Party employees who thought "we're above the law, sod those little people currently mourning loved ones".

I've noted your concerns.

I'm not sure what you mean about me being observant. Your profile says you joined in April, if you previously had a different user name then I wasn't aware of that. Maybe you're not as notable as you thought you were?

Just because they didn't comment doesn't mean that nobody else thought it was aimed at Tory voters. I was only ever expressing my view, not others.

I know the thread subjects on the board have always been varied. But I can't remember them being so divisive as a lot of them seem to be now. Even in the close season.

Brexit says what now?

They might not technically be fools, but a large amount have certainly been fooled on multiple occasions, and will almost certainly fall for the same or similar nonsense again.

Substitute the £350 million a week NHS red bus for "stop the boats", etc etc
You are confusing politically disengaged with being dumb. The electorate are not, generally stupid, and to say otherwise is plain wrong

being dumb and politically disengaged are not mutually exclusive, much like the number of people who were very politically engaged and also dumb at the same time.

And by dumb I mean any combination of thick as mince, naive, mildly racist, wildly racist, or just easily hoodwinked by posh speaking public school boys. Turns out some folks were just waiting patiently for the dog whistles to be blown, and this government has whistled its ar$e off.

I really can't be bothered. You are just cranking out verbal memes with no substance.

You are, of course, free to think that tory voters are dumb if you please. They are not. Nor do the tories believe they will win the next election.

How would you describe people who vote for a party that makes their lives worse?
There may be many reasons for them voting tory. Corbyn turned lots of people off, rightly or wrongly.

Perhaps they believe Labour will make them poorer in a redistribution of wealth. I don't know, but neither do you.

Why would anyone go from voting Labour to voting Conservative?

Surely we'd have seen a surge in Liberal and Green votes (and any other minor parties who sit between the two BIG ones)?

The simple fact is that the links between Labour and the working classes were lost under Blairism and now we have a large voter base who make decisions based on one or two key issues e.g. Brexit, Immigration, Crime, and those issues are driven by right-oriented media with the solutions being offered by right-wing think tank spokespeople.

Labour under Corbyn offered genuine hope and a genuine difference and any chance of that was wrecked by people who thought they'd manage to ride another Tory parliament without too much personal inconvenience. Covid, and the opportunities that gave Johnson et al scuppered all that and now the nation is in ruins.

The people can only vote based on the information they are presented with. As I said the other day, the vast majority don't have the time to dig into political issues. They are forced to rely on what they see and hear through various media channels. They therefore have to be able to trust that what they are being told is true. Unfortunately, it isn't.
