Concussion

Surely the head injury suffered by Robin Koch in the Leeds game today shows that independent doctors need to asses head injuries.

In an age when we know how much damage heading a ball is doing how can it be right that a player can decide wether he is ok to continue or not???

I mentioned this in the thread about the match. Koch was clearly concussed and it's shocking that he was allowed to play on. He looked really bad when finally removed from the game.

Football has a lot to learn with this. In rugby any type of head contact results in a mandatory Head Injury Assessment (HIA). That happened in England's last game against Italy and resulted in Jack Nowell not returning to the match. A failed HIA also means no contact training for a defined period too.
