Cole Palmer or Phil Foden?

If we are using goals as the only metric in big games against quality opposition, I think it would have been worthwhile mentioning the goal he scored in the Euro final 👍🏻

He started and finished the move for the only goal we managed against the eventual European Champions in a final.
In deed he did.

So that's 1 goal scored/created from open play in how many games against very good teams (Champions League standard, or higher)?

Palmer for me. Foden on his day is world class but he needs other world class players around him to bring out the best.
Palmer on the other hand can take the bull by the horns and produce that bit of match winning quality.
Both absolute quality players but Foden has had a very quiet season and his team has needed him to step up

Is Foden really world class on his day ? Yamal js world class and foden even on his day is nowhere near . Foden wouldn’t get into a world XI when when he was at his best

He’ll have a soft landing as Foden will be there to cushion him.

Glad it’s not a World Cup/Euros year.
True. A lot of English players seem to be in worse form than they were 12 months ago.
You can add Kane, Watkins and Bellingham to Foden and Palmer. Possibly Saka as well.

Hate to say it but Foden has an air of Jack Wilshere this season…

Just hope his potential doesn’t fade on a world level

Phil foden, when he’s on top form, definitely IS world class, and IS in the conversation (just like Yamal, he isn’t a shoe in) to get into a world XI

Foden is not anywhere near such a conversation.
Of course he has talent, but he simply isn’t world class even in today’s generous definition of that.

Palmer has had a poor season, but so too has Foden in a season when his club has faded through Rodris absence.
Saka, Rice, Bellingham and Kane remain Englands top players.
Mbappe has weakened Real and impacted Bellingham.
Sakas injury has holed Arsenal below the waterline this season. Rice has carried them through the CL.
Harry smashes more goals and finally wins a title.

Wharton emerging as an England midfield asset at a perfect time to partner Declan.

Just my views

It's a shame they've both went off the boil at the same time.

Foden of 2 years ago was incredible, he's been a shadow of himself since then.

Open to individual interpretation. Though he was integral in City winning Premier titles, Champions League and World Club Cup.

A mainstay in a very decent England side.

Won the PFAs players player of the year

These facts suggest World class to me

Ist it strange that these players are going in the same direction as Alli and Lingard etc, so many English players this is happening to nowadays, break through then fall off a cliff never to get that back .

Kane seems like a very harsh inclusion.

That is a superb goal return.

If it was from a player without any prior pedigree, people would be absolutely raving about it.
