I wonder if it will attract as many as Redcar does? There is a big anti lockdown protest planned for the weekend in London too that I've seen on twitter

Huh?Small Town may have been wearing some when he watched the coverage. He might know?
Ah, I see what's happened. I complained about the hypocrisy of one of the protesters, you saw a picture of another protester and thought you'd be "clever"What type of leather us that jacket?
It does when they are illegally trespassing onto the railway infrastructure and constructions sites, which is what XR have planned this weekend. What do they expect to happen?Every protest attracts trouble makers. It doesn't mean they belong to or understand the cause.
Yeah thats the problem with XR they aren't helping their cause. It does when they are illegally trespassing onto the railway infrastructure and constructions sites, which is what XR have planned this weekend. What do they expect to happen?
That's a plastic jacket, and she's not smashing a window
Photo-shopped?
Ah, good job Plastic is so good for the environment then. That's a plastic jacket, and she's not smashing a window
I doubt the sun also photoshopped the video that was on twitterPhoto-shopped?
Murdoch is against climate change legislation.
Marginalise protests - it demeans the argument and supports his agenda.
Ask the National Union of Mineworkers or the Hillsbrough Victims!
Plastic I would have said: use of petrochemicals to make and its resistance to degrading after use. It is more recyclable than leather I guess but that wouldn't offset the damage. As this thread is clearly getting to the crux of the issue I thought I best join in.
What is worse for climate change Leather or Plastic? If she was wearing a hemp jacket and smashing stuff would we all be more on board with the message?

The point is: if you feel that strongly about a cause that you'll cause disturbance and criminal damage shouldn't you at least also do your own bit to help it?
When is criminal damage acceptable?I'm a big fan of playing the ball rather than the player. In this instance she may have found the jacket and be recycling it/ could have been a gift- who knows. You do what you can, i'm hypocritical daily on climate change.
The message is important, the way they are approaching it perhaps not great for the cause in the short term.
When is criminal damage acceptable?
Someone ultimately has to pay for that damage too, and the repair - which most probably involves two lads travelling around the M25 in a diesel van, via the warehouse to collect the new panes. Not to mention the materials they'll need like silica, plastic protective wrapping on the glass etc etc.
I get that its an important message, but these so called activists really do show themselves to be a bit stupid at times.
Only if you're not trying to be morally superior.I think it's fair to say it is not acceptable. My point was more that the jacket you wear while smashing stuff it less important.
How so?It does when they are illegally trespassing onto the railway infrastructure and constructions sites, which is what XR have planned this weekend. What do they expect to happen?
How so what?How so?
