Yet another goal, class header today. Linked up well and worked hard again. Great awareness to leave it for Forss for the first goal. Will he be the difference in the playoffs if we get there? Can he help us to beat our Wembley hoodoo if we get there? Questions I would never have expected to ask when Micheal Carrick took over. When is the Final by the way? ;)

When you say if we get there are you being cautious or are you thinking we might still catch 2nd? Because we probably only need 2 wins to guarantee the play offs.

In answer, yes, he absolutely could be the difference

‘If we get there’ surely refers to the play off final rather than just the play offs?

A few facts about Chuba this season:

- 25 league goals now, makes him level with Big John Hicktons best season of 1970/71

- The last person to score more than 25 league goals in a season for Boro was O'rourke in 66/67.

- Two more league goals to go and it's the best since 62/63,

- Six more to be the best since Cloughy.

- Only 9 people have had a better season in league goalscoring terms for Boro

If we don’t go up will he move on is the question in my head right now

Was quiet today but mostly due to the lack of space in his area. Was still trying to win the game though and took his goal well

He already has form

Played in the Greek Cup Final 2019. Scored the only goal to win the Cup for

Final5/11/19HPAOK ThessalonikiAEK AthensAEK Athens1:0CF138'90'
The only downside was due to some kind of safety issue over fans , there was only 1000 let in , when a normal cup final for them should be 25-40k .

Final

Play from 7min in. Choobs score about 7:14

Was the 1962/3 player Alan Peocock?

Championship over 25 goals (last 10 years):

43 - Mitrovic
31 - Toney
29 - Solanke, Pukki
28 - Armstrong, McCormack
26 - Pukki
27 - Wood, Murphy, Mitrovic,
25 - Rhodes, Watkins, Abraham, Maupay, Gray, AKPOM

That's a decent set of players to be alongside. So only 8 players have scored more in a season than Akpom this year (in the last 10 years). Tpney's target is tough but not impossible. In the past we would be putting a value on a player, but no one has, because we all desperately want him to sign an extended contract.

Worth noting that despite our crap result at the weekend we have closed the gap on Burnley for the top goalscorers in the championship. Burnley have 74 goals we have 71. 4-0 to Boro on Friday and we top the charts :ROFLMAO:. To put it into context Sheff Utd are third top scorers on 59 goals, 12 less than us!

His "value" is almost impossible to calculate. If he signs a new contract he's going nowhere and that's definitely a possibility although I think we'll have to offer him very good wages, he's in a very strong negotiating position.

If we can't agree an extension it becomes a balance between what someone is willing to pay and what we'd be tempted by. He's so important to us, even with a year left I think anything shy of £20m might not be enough. It'd be a dilemma.

At 27 (28 not long after the next season starts) he's unlikely to attract the attention of the big boys, he's not a hot prospect. So probably a newly promoted side or bottom 8 club would be most interested. Would they pay that sort of money for a 28 year old based on one good season at championship level? Hard to say.

Hopefully a moot point. The fact he's happy, enjoying his football and the Carrick factor will hopefully be enough to convince him to stick around and that the grass ain't alway greener. Prem wages and footy can be hard to turn down though.
