Chelsea semi final

HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I just realised this myself, this morning

HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I was wondering if they will get around this by Wembley selling the tickets to Chelsea supporters.

Seems the sensible thing to do.

They should have just conceded the tie really for the sake of sporting integrity and the spectacle itself of a Wembley semi final, the thing that got me was the way their fans just started to quietly leave the stadium at the end like it was just another expected Wembley appearance.

Their fans are spoilt rotten. A Wembley appearance means nothing to them anymore. It’s expected. The joy of an occasion like that has long left them.

I'm fairly sure the FA are in charge of selling the tickets at Wembley, so they'll be allowed in.

I presume the profits will be withheld from Chelsea though.

How come, surely it would be Chelsea selling the tickets to the fans, the venue shouldn’t matter, same as yesterday.

FA Cup is all about giant killers and this season we we're that team.
Due to the big gaps in quality likelihood the so called 'big clubs' will always reach the semi finals and final.
BUT it was great while it lasted we did ourselves proud, as a town, as a club, and as fans.
C'mon Boro we are one

I wonder if they would allocate tickets to the opposition and then let Chelsea fans buy them through the opposition teams site. Plus there will be no freebies for all the clingons.

It'll be like away matches in the league, where the home club sell a share of the allocation to the away team, but the away club itself sees none of the profits.

The FA Cup is normally different because there's a split in gate receipts, but Chelsea would have got 45% of the gate yesterday even if there had been 0 Chelsea fans, I presume they've had that 45% withheld.

I don't think the FA will want their main competition devalued by preventing one set of fans from attending Wembley, especially when they're still probably paying off the construction costs.

In the semi finals, Chelsea are entitled to 14.63% of the total gate receipts over both ties, regardless of how many tickets they personally sell.
It's not going to have any impact keeping out Chelsea fans specifically, either they withhold the gate receipts from Chelsea or they'd have to prevent all fans.

I think the more likely outcome is that they allow Chelsea fans to attend but ensure that the club doesn't receive it's cut of the receipts.

But haven’t they then just compromised the whole reasoning of the Chelsea ticket ban, the whole purpose is both financial but also the impact on this type of spectacle.

The purpose of the ban is to prevent Abramovich profiting financially from Chelsea football club.

Allowing fans to attend the matches whilst withholding the money from Chelsea prevents that, whilst not punishing the fans who aren't under sanctions.

Chelsea aren't playing behind closed doors at home, they're just not allowed to sell additional tickets.

Depends what you mean by 'big teams'.
In the last 10 years these teams have been in the semis:
Wigan
Hull
Millwall
Sheff Utd
Reading
Palace
Watford
Southampton
Brighton
Wolves

Chelsea will have been bought, or will have a buyer in place, by the time of the semi-final so the government will grant them a licence to continue trading as normal.

I am whispering this, but I have not seen a better team than that for a very long time. From keeper to CF, every one was outstanding. The second half they were still having a stroll in the town centre.
Different class as a team to anyone we have played, since Liverpool last time in the EPL, they way they broke through us for the first goal and the way Mount picked out Lukaku is something you simply don’t see at our level. Will have been a bit of a wake up call to some of our players. For me only Tav, Jones and Howson looked like they could make the step up to EPL.
