Chelsea Pre-Match Atmosphere

They only go on genuine general sale at 12pm today, and they only went on sale to all who have previously bought a ticket online yesterday.

Still plenty of time for people to get a ticket.

We can now share updated selling arrangements for tickets for the home leg of Boro's Carabao Cup semi-final tie with Chelsea.

Approximately 8,500 tickets remain for the match, currently on sale to supporters with 3+ Priority Points. Sales will continue as follows:

On Sale Dates

  • Supporters with an MFC Digital Account created before 3 January 2024: 3pm, Thursday 4 January
  • General sale: 12noon, Friday 5 January (max 4 tickets per account)

Don’t you get 3 points if you have bought a ticket for a game this season?

That reads to me like they are relying on people who have never attended a game this season to buy tickets. You would have thought all of the walk ups will have already got their’s.

There's lot of people who have been to games who don't have priority points. If the person buying the tickets doesn't assign the ticket to them they won't get the points.

But I agree, worrying there's still 8000 tickets at this point. Can't see it selling out

You do, though plenty of people will have tickets bought for them through other accounts, so they won't have points themselves.

I think sales will hopefully pick up at 12 when you can buy more than one ticket per account think the one ticket per account limit has impacted on family sales so far.

If that’s the case, you would make sure that the same person got you a ticket for a semi final, you certainly wouldn’t leave it to the last minute or until they went on general sale.

As of last night, there wasn’t one area sold out, other than the players and families section in the West Stand.

It seems to me we are relying on those armchair supporters who want to see Chelsea live and last minute buys.

They can't before it goes on general sale.
Each account can only buy one ticket before then.

I think people are a bit flat because we’ve had to play over half the season with a lot of our best players missing - plus we have lost a lot of home games. As regards these two cup games i think people are just thinking we’re going to put a weakened side out and we’ll get walloped, plus it’s easily available to watch on tv with a pint in hand

There is zero chance of us putting out a weakened side on Tuesday.

How many season ticket holders and digital members do we have?

Can't comment on the digital members, but we have 21,000+ season ticket holders.

Our lowest official attendance this season has been against Hull on a Wedneday night, with 24,158 and there were about 600 Hull fans, so there's probably a base of 23,000ish home fans this season.

Obviously you'd knock some season ticket holders off the cup attendances as they're not automatically included and not all will make it.

What is more irritating is if we do get to Wembley see how many will crawl out from under their rocks for tickets. Some will not have been to a match for years. It is in these semi finals where true support and passion can really make the difference to the teams performance.

So even though you have accounts allocated to you, you couldn’t buy 2+ tickets together?

That sounds like an half @rsed way the Boro would do it.
No you can buy tickets if you have other accounts assigned. The issue is in the league you can buy more than one ticket through your account that alot of people will do when taking their children or family. But for this cup game they is a limit of one ticket per said account so people who have previously bought more than one ticket through their account can't. But from 12pm you can buy up to 4 tickets per your account. It's stupid if you ask me they should of allowed this from the start or atleast allowed 2 tickets per account

I guess there's probably ST holders and people with priority points waiting for general sale to sit with people who don't have points as well.

Its annoying and a tough lesson to learn as I hadn't assigned seats to my lad for quite a few matches last season when I bought them one through my account. Thought it was going to cost me a ticket to the Coventry game.

There was a lot of outrage in 2022 about season ticket holders being able to buy multiple tickets for the Chelsea quarter final before it went on general sale, so it's probably a reaction to that.

Agree. Almost all home games the atmosphere hasn’t been great. The Red Faction are almost doing it by themselves. Most of the time the rest of the South Stand don’t even bother joining in. The Coventry game was the worst it has been for many years.
I've noticed this, I thought Coventry was better than West Brom, but only just. For the amount of fans at the West Brom game the atmosphere was terrible, has been all season really.

Some times the atmosphere is better when it's not sold out and orchestrated.
European quarter final is a good example.

The Coventry atmosphere was killed by the very forced 140 decibel , 20 min prelude music montage.

No organic atmosphere, but , " looks good as a background on the Telly "
