Channel Migrants (Admin advisory. Contains disturbing image and repulsive views)

No idea how you join, but it does mean, that once you are in, you can clearly make repugnantly racist statements and get away with a slap on the wrist.

How do you know that if you're not in? Are there a set of rules I can look at, doesn't sound like it's for me.

Purely as a matter of terminology:
It is not illegal to sail a dingy from France to the UK.
On arrival in the UK, it’s not illegal to claim asylum. It’s allowed by the UN charter, of which the UK is a member.
It follows from these two facts that people arriving from France are not illegal immigrants.
They can become illegal if their asylum claim is unfounded and rejected and they then refuse to leave. Since the Home Office is grossly inefficient, this can take years.
Therefore Nigel Farage talking about “illegal migrants” is wrong. However, he has never let facts stop a bit of racism. And he's not the only one.

I'm surprised how many news outlets and Government ministers don't know this.

Is swimming the channel illegal?

The EU is the middle-east & Africa destination of choice for migrants - economic or otherwise.... it will only continue to increase as the years progress.

The issue needs to be how can we force the countries they are fleeing to become more evolved & socially modern civilised - when many still use religion for much of their social & legal societal framework.

I think bring them over though reject all application & repatriate without delay or appeal - Boris is looking at new laws (probably to get around current legal - safeguards - issues)

Real problem is the blind eye too many nations ( & NU fans ) have to the quasi dictators that run the countries.. ( too many leaders all over the world are little more than dictators & it's going to be a real problem for the world )

If it was a few hundred kittens coming here they’d be welcomed with open arms, but humans oh no thanks - what’s happened to empathy and compassion, this is another example of our facist right wing government and media brainwashing certain sections of society into believing a minority are a danger to us. I’m afraid your real enemy isn’t coming here in a rubber dingy risking their life in the process, it’s a billionaire wearing a suit and a phoney smile that’s your real enemy - these are the ones taking your money, drip feeding you their agendas and lies and keeping you in fear whilst they throw just enough crumbs to survive whilst they ship their money off shore and dodge paying taxes. They are the ones you should fear

Perhaps stop bombing the poor fukkers?

18 migrants filmed on BBC breakfast TV this morning. Watching it we were then treated to the expertise of a retired Admiral (I think he was an Admiral some old salty sea dog) he opined that we could "rescue" them at sea and return them to Calais for interrogation by the Gendarmerie. What wasn't pointed out was that the first half a dozen boats will be compliantly "rescued" (as we saw for the 18 by Border Force) but if they are going to be returned to Calais all that will happen is that they will refuse help. You then have the problem of trying to interdict small dinghies in a busy sea lane against their will, it doesn't take a genius to work out that there will be fatalities. Of course none of this matters as long as the people are distracted from other events. Those coming ashore barely replace those dying from COVID let alone those exiting the country due to Brexit.

Why not simply set up a place in France where their application for asylum can be processed, if they are successful they are put on a nice safe ferry, rather than insist that they have to set foot in Blighty before doing so? Anyone setting foot in Britain off a pedalo thereafter can be summarily arrested and sent back without further ado.
