Ch4…Air Fryers: Are they worth it?

I wish I'd gone for the FlexDrawer XL rather than the dual zone, I think i'm going to buy this if it drops in any of the sales and I'll use both. Dual Zone is class mind.

Pretty much negates the use of an oven with the massive 10.4L single drawer

That looks really good!

What was that Gnocchi recipe you did?

I tried my own and it wasn't that good, where as the pics you posted before looked class.
Gnocchi always strikes me as the work of the Devil. It reminds me of being sort of constipated except in your stomach not your bowel.

Just add gnocchi to a glass bowl, add some oil to taste then the rest is preference - I use garlic, chilli powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, a little onion salt and toss it round in the bowl to coat everything. Whack in air fryer at 200c and cook til crispy. I make a sauce out of mayo, a little white wine vinegar and sriracha.

I have resisted the seemingly never-ending recommendations to buy an air fryer.. it just feels a bit like the soda stream or the breville.

Halogen ovens seem to be the next big thing.. looks very much like those toy ovens sold in Argos might just be how people cook good in the future.

How many devices do we need to replace the oven.

Halogen ovens aren't the next big thing unless you're in the business of writing click bait articles like "is a halogen oven better than an air fryer?"

Spoiler alert, they're not, they've been around for years and there is a reason they never took off.

They're slower to cook than air fryers, don't crisp things as well, slightly less cost efficient and look like a salad bowl with an electric lid.

Tonight I whacked 4 potato waffles in an air fryer. It was better than a toaster would have been, or an oven (given how long it would have taken to do them). It took like 5 minutes and I’m confident that was the best way to cook them in that short time.

But more importantly, my teenage obsession with DVO is finally coming to an end, I think.

Is an air fryer big enough to cook four a family of four? I can't imagine it being so as our oven is usually pretty full at teatime.

I think the advent of the air fryer has doomed the microwave to dumpster, ok maybe it has some warm up uses but really "it's a waste of space as it kills the taste".

you'd probably need a dual zone one but I've got several friends who are 2 adults and either 2 or 3 kids and they use it pretty much exclusively. The dual zone ones sync so that that each drawer finishes at same time

As full as your oven it's probably mostly empty space

Can you heat up beans and frozen peas in an airfryer? We were looking to replace the microwave but heating up food it always better in a microwave? at least you can put a plate in :)

If you get one of those reusable plastic liners to go in it.

We are upgrading to the dual zone - been chuffed to bits since we got the single from Lakeland.

One revelation - buy extra chips from the chippy, next day air fry the remainder........
Extra chips? Do you ever not get enough even if you order normally?

Yeah, it was that latter list of herbs and spices I was interested in, it looked a good combination.

Turbo charge it with some grated Parmesan at the end as well, defo works best with a dip 👌🏻
I think the "lazy summer" enforced diet will put a stop to the turbo and dip unfortunately, if I want to be able to eat (pig out) over christmas, which I certainly do.
