Carricks interview on Sky

Respectfully disagree with that, the season before last when Lenihan played the majority of our games we looked much more solid at the back.

We conceded in most matches that season, the one thing we weren't was solid defensively.

We only kept 10 clean sheets in 46 league games, and 4 of those were before Carrick took over.

Not that I think any of that was down to Lenihan, but we're no worse defensively than we were that season.

I wouldn't class it as a big reaction, and you don't upset me in the slightest (and for information I actually prefer straight talkers as you know where you stand 😜).

I just can't understand:-

1) the negative mindset to be so certain we have no chance when there's still so much to play for.
2) that Carrick needs to go, when he's doing a really decent job.

Someone posted his win percentage the other day and it's right up there with our most successful Championship managers. It's simply far too early to be writing us off.
This is a perfectly reasonable post - 👀 look a bit further below, SCRUG has answered it perfectly.

Carrick is taking us nowhere - ever.

We conceded more goals last season when he played less...

No worries about disagreement MM - inevitable on the board.
We didn't go up in Darragh's first season because we conceded far too many goals. Our 56 was 21 more than Burnley, 17 more than Sheff U and Luton. 11 clubs conceded fewer than we did.
He's not the only defender and defenders aren't the only ones with defensive responsibility, but he was a long way from being a rock.

Last season he started the first 8 matches, of which we lost 5, and conceded 16 goals.
I’m not talking about his performance, which was acceptable in the championship, I’m talking about his leadership qualities which, annoyingly for you folks, isn’t measurable but we sorely miss him and Smith

Carrick should be absolutely fuming and I suspect he will be. Within that though, his subs yesterday were absolutely terrible. Norwich were terrified of Doak and he was still affecting the game for us. Unless he was injured taking off when he did was criminal and we never recovered. It killed our attacking threat.

There is a real lack of ruthlessness about this team and I’m really concerned it’s going to cost us tbh. Things like yesterday happen too often to put down to luck, chance, misfortune, etc. It needs to be sorted out.

Well said,
What the absolute FCUK was Carrick thinking to bring off Doak…he was absolutely battering them
Honestly, Carrick boils my pi$$.

Senseless decisions when Jones’s confidence is shot to pieces

I agree with this.

This is the 2nd game in which we were completely cruising and controlling, with us winning, in which he's taken Doak off and then we've collapsed, leaving with 0pts.

Carrick seriously needs to learn from this.

Doak was hardly blowing out of his ar$e.

He was absolutely destroying their left back and as soon as he went off, their defence must've breathed a huge sigh of relief.

We didn't leave with zero points yesterday.....just saying .

Yep, sorry, my bad.

It's because it still feels like a defeat to me!
Imagine that dressing room yesterday.
Carrick, look lads, it’s not the end of the world, like Derby, Sunderland, Watford and there will be others, it’s important we don’t get too down on ourselves, the supporters seen 3 goals from us, that’s important to remember…..

B0llox

I wish it was like a fcuking morgue in that dressing room but it won’t have been.

Why? Surely the reaction is important and the reaction starts from the dressing room post game.

A morgue atmosphere is not what we want following a game like that, so surely that’s not what you want it to be like?

Soooooo is Lenihan schit? I’m lost.

Nah, Lenihan is fine and he was good for us.

But we're factually no worse off defensively without him, and he's a 30 year old who's not played a competitive match in 13 months because of a very serious injury.

He'll have a hard time getting back in to the side without there being a bunch of injuries or sales, and that's if he comes back at the same level as he was before the injury.

I do yes.
I want them to feel like all their hard work and clever play came to nothing against an inferior team - so they are super motivated to make sure they don’t do the things they did again!!!!
It’s a cracking motivator
