Carricks interview on Sky

The stats back up my point really. He's 27 and before signing for us he had only played 20 times in the Championship. The vast majority of his appearances have been in either League 1 or League 2
That’s a very simplistic way to look at it. So when his Championship appearance stats outnumber his league 1 numbers, then he can qualify as a Championship player, excellent.

I'd say the idea of a leader is almost always just people talking about older players who they think shout a bit.

We've often conceded as many with these leaders in the team than without them.

Obviously you'd look to the likes of Howson, Lenihan and Ayling as leaders, but we've had some hammerings with them playing too.
It's just people posting absolute nonsense.

It's not quantifiable because it's rubbish. If it were then it would be a doodle to show that when efl's preferred leaders played them we got more points. We didn't.

This thread is a hoot!

Erm, no not really. I just don’t think he’s very good, certainly not good enough to be a starter in a team aiming for promotion in the championship.

There is a reason why at 27 he had only played 20 Championship matches.

If we were not to get promoted I would be offering Edmundson a contract (similar to the Ayling situation).

He has already proven he is a more than capable championship squad CB.
If we don't get promoted then most likely we lose Rav anyway and there's got to be a fair chance that one of Lenihan or Fry either gets sold or simply never fully recovers from their injuries so Edmundson is going to be a necessity in that case.

Totally get that both Lenihan and Smith in their 30’s and both been out a while but let’s not write them off just yet. Wasn’t Clarke out for over a year and has come back and played regularly. Admittedly Lenihan and Smith need to be back playing sooner rather than later, but there will be injuries as season goes on so I’d rather they still at the club until at least end of the season, if not longer especially for their experience.

Been saying this for a while, but I honestly don’t rate Lenihan. I don’t think we’ve missed him.
Don’t think he’s put a foot wrong when he ms played. Clarke came back just in time. and stayed fit for so long. Edmunson has come in and gone a great job.

Oh! Ayling is that ceptsin type that we’ve needed back in the mix too.

Lenihan is a great option to have as part of your squad of centre halves at this level imo. Ability to wise he ranks close to the bottom of our centre halves but there's not a lot in it.
