Carricks first game to be Preston

I think the new manager should be in on day 1, not waiting a fortnight. I don't know about anyone else but I've seen it many times in the real world that as soon as it is known that the current manager is no longer someone you have to impress or work hard for then people are on wind down. Like the run in to Xmas where not much gets done. Why would the players be working hard in training, learning new things etc when they know the work they are doing might be irrelevant in a week or two.
Especially so when the caretaking arrangement is not working.

I just hope we manage to pick up a few wins before then, we're already in a worse position than when Wilder was sacked, further from safety and further from the play-offs (unlikely now, I know), so it's been an expensive interim period.

Hopefully Leo goes out on on a high on Saturday with a vital win against a relegation rival and he gets a great response from the crowd.

Well, he hasn't signed yet (unless I've missed something?) so Wigan is irrelevant.

Gets loose ends tied up etc, coaches sorted this week, he will be unveiled early next week ready to start work and take the team v. Preston.

Not got much to gain to give him a couple of hours with the players, take the team v Huddersfield and if we get beat........😬😬.

It's not perfect how things have happened, but I can definitely see the logic in giving him as long as possible with the players before the first game.

Stupid thing is he could’ve had the full international break if we didn’t wait for the inevitable to happen against Coventry.

Presumably any delay is simply to sort out negotiations?

We can infer that initial discussions took place last week and have either a) last longer than expected or b) stopped and been restarted.

There will be a lot to agree, and particularly if the two parties were initially quite far away on terms, these things take time.

Hopefully he is in charge for Saturday. Always prefer it when a managers first game is a home one.

Plus, selfishly, I can't make Preston due to work and don't want to miss his first game!
