Carrick now knows the reality

Of course he’s watched vids and he’s seen them in training but nothing compares to seeing them up close in a match and after yesterdays Jekyll and Hyde performance he’ll now have a better understanding of the real issues at the club.

I think we’ll see changes and an improved performance at hull.

Carrick doesn’t have a magic wand.

He can’t make woefully incompetent players with no courage or backbone suddenly start playing with vigour and quality.

We’re one of the worst teams in the division, statistically and aesthetically.

I’ve been to every single game bar Watford away this season, so have not only seen a lot of us but a canny sample of the rest of the division. We’re in trouble with these players and an inexperienced coaching set up.

I will save you some heartache. We won’t see any such improvements.

I thought the players downed tools for wilder zorro? As a result of what wilder said about joining Burnley? It was obvious we were told.

Exactly. We have a **** squad of players with no heart and no mentality. That’s in the recruitment team and sacking Wilder was another ridiculous decision.

Spineless group who hopefully he will seriously get amongst , a group of serial failures who can have a serious lack of heart & desire when the going gets tough. The number of late or set piece goals is all about discipline & desire & time should be up for a few . Lenihan gets stick on here but yesterdays winner , he was jumping with 2 The headers back across .......& no b***r challenges yet again free headers . Jones is offering nothing & appears to be rapidly going backwards . MC has his work cut out with this lot & a few bombs up ar53s need planting !!!

Now that we’ve got him here then we need to back him and that means nothing being off the table in jan who ever he wants we should go for ( seriously) and who ever he wants out we should sell.

He needs to put his stamp on the team.

The only positive from yesterday is the possibility that the result may speed up the search for an accomplished, experienced coach.
I’m hoping that the speed of that has never dipped below maximum since he arrived.

Our manager has no assistant, and no experience.

Priority number one. That’s one thing we can change. Can’t do anything about the clowns in the shirts until January unfortunately.

We have been here before though , only to find that the experienced coach never actually materialised.

From the prospect of Carrick, Meulensteen and Phelan we swing to the reality of Carrick, the Village Idiot and the promise of one other to come.

What could possibly go wrong…..

Carrick mentioned in his post match interview he could see what was happening for Preston’s winner. But he couldn’t get a message on quick enough.

Reminds me of watching the boy in a Sunday morning. When they all ball watch. If a new manager / coach is tearing his hair out after the first game, what the hell has been going on that seasoned pros are incapable of defending a free kick

That’s my point as now he’s seen it close up that’s a big difference to looking from afar.

Thats my point , its pretty basic stuff to sort out if the buggers apply themselves , so many times its free headers from set pieces

At least it's encouraging to think it's something which Carrick will have them working on in training.

It reminded me of the goal we conceded vs Blackburn, when their player was able to pull away and head it back into the danger zone.

That side looks capable of a mid table finish imo.. trouble is we’ve got such a handicap from the start of the season that’s not going to be shown on the table.

Lots of players out of contract at the end of the season, a large intake of players is needed at the worst possible time and difficult to sell the position of the club as a stepping stone to the premier league right now!

I agree the side ‘looks’ capable, but the tone of this thread is that the players are mentally weak. They might have some ability but many of them have no brain (needless free kicks, bookings etc), no desire (have you seen anyone dish out a JFH style bollocking?), no leadership (someone mentioned Howson trudging back to the halfway line head down every time we concede) no organisation, no responsibility, the list goes on.
