Carrick now 1/10

All things considered I think it is probably the best appointment we could make, assuming he brings Phelan and Meulensteen with him. We would not get anywhere near coaches of their experience and standing without someone like Carrick fronting it.

I'd hope he does bring himself to be fair with the circus we've become lately it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't....

Not impressed if after all this time, we end up with someone who has next to no experience in management.

The way its gone from nailed on favourite to drifting and now back again ... anyone else get the impression he had some conditions that we have, at least now, decided to accept ?
Probably his own backroom staff, likely a say over recruitment along with the current staff. I just want a Boro team who play good football, work hard and give everything. It's not too much to ask; we'll never play like City or Liverpool but we should be more than good enough to win at this level.

I got told over the weekend that it broke down with Carrick last week cos we insisted that Percovich and Cattermole be part of his first team coaching staff, but he wouldn't budge insisting that he bring his own team in. I wouldn't be surprised after Saturday if we gone back to him cap in hand and agreed to what he wants

Hope it doesn't suggest we're slightly panicking and perhaps bent over and accepted some T&Cs which originally we said no to?
Again though it may be changes that are needed as for the first time since AK being sacked there's a huge fan disconnect and anger around the Riverside and this appointment needs to be right with the right team alongside the new manager. Maybe it was assurances in January? Perhaps this could be a brilliant sign that things may be slowly changing.

It’s interesting with the existing coaching staff because Wilder had Knill and the computer boy so they’ll need to be replaced. The current caretaker group were at the club anyway. It’s almost as if those posters tying themselves up in knots about why Carrick may or not want the job because of having to work with the “chairman’s yes men” were talking absolute horse pish…

I don't understand the view that he's a potential poor appointment, due his his inexperience?

Robson, SMAC and Aitor all had similar or less experience.

Compared to Strachan, Pulis and Warnock, who were all hugely experienced.

I know which three I enjoyed being our manager more, by some distance.

Not my first choice, nor probably in my top 5 but will be interesting to see what happens now. Whilst I do think we overperformed last season (Hi Chris!) we are underperforming this.

The backroom staff point is strange if true. I doubt Leo will be leaving, presumably he will stay but Carrick could (rightly or wrongly) just sideline him as previous managers have?

Cattermole is u18 manager in his substantive post and I assume will go back to that?
