I absolutely love any opportunity to tell anyone I'm a boro fan and it's even better when they know who we are.
The games are on at peak time on Saturday night for me with time difference which living in a city with a pretty good social scene has been a pain under certain managers.
That said, I'm lucky enough to be very close friends of the manager of Hanoi's most well known sports bar. At 9 or 10pm every week the boro are broadcast to a room full of confused tourists and Premier League fans on their jollies and I go through the highs and lows like like I'm at the Riverside as best I can.
Just text him to make sure the game will be on tonight, it's 10am and I'm excited already.
Really, I think you just know. If you're a fan/supporter/follower, whatever.
If you shed the occasional tear at "Rochemback, the goalkeepers saved it, Maccarone, ohhhhh" (getting goose bumps as I type it) or whether you just check the score, you're a fan.
As with so many things in life, there's undoubtedly a spectrum. A spectrum I love.
I'm not a nationalist, patriot maybe but I don't believe implicitly that the UK or England is 'better' than any other nation.
However, when it comes to boro I can say we are. We are the best football club to support in the world and I am grateful that I was born into supporting us and chose to continue so in my adulthood.
