Can woody turn it around?

1. We have one of the toughest run ins of those fighting for survival.
2. We have 7 players who are out of contract with no real buy in to our survival other than praying for their personal integrity and professionalism.
3. Our owner voted for the only outcome that could see us relegated, in part I agree mind, as football integrity is important. The selfish in me though says..... what a damn foolish thing to do.
4. We have the most inexperienced (and daftest) head coach in the division.
5. As they say on TikTok.............I think you know where this about to go :(
I honestly believe we are going down with Barnsley and Luton

I think it's very likely Charlton will go down.
They're in a much bigger mess than us too.

They play Hull next, so that's a match where any result can be spun as positive.

I think it would probably be a good idea for woody to get other teams to eat gone off food so they feel a little under the weather when they play us.. it could help us get over the line 🤣

So weird to think after all this nonsense we could still get relegated and nobody would give a ***
Strange post. Gives me less confidence in your Covid19 pronunciations!

I’m really worried about our manager . He simply does not have what it takes and if we do survive just get rid of him and forget all this project nonsense .
I don’t enjoy saying it but only saying what everyone’s thinking
Everyone?
Barmy by name......

Zzzzzz zzzzzz

I`m hoping we do just enough to stay up and finish this season.
Glad to note that the majority of Champo clubs are not financially stable.
Its a buyers market and hundreds of footballers will be without a club.
I hope we have the skill to find 11 players to do the job next season [ie. get into the playoffs at least]
Surely thats not too much to ask is it?

BTW: I reckon Howson will be the only one of the magnificent 7 left playing at the club.
George will move upstairs as a coach and ambassador for the club.

Saw enough in spells this season to suggest he can. He has been given an impossible job which makes me reluctant to blame him too much for this season. Picked up a team thats had its confidence destroyed by the previous manager, load of players out of contact, players who dont want to be at the club, no money to bring in his own squad and an inexperienced backroom team. Any manager would struggle in that environment but when its his first job its practically impossible before the season has even started.

Regardless of what he has/hasnt done this season he has to be given time, club is clearly trying to go in a different direction so to get rid of the manager a year into that is reckless. Give him time to bring his own players in and judge him at that point.

If he was to go at the end of the season, who could we realistically get that would do a better job?

Very well put and correct on the whole in my opinion but I fear he just isn’t good enough to carry us on that journey . He’s a smashing fella ,honest and keen but simply can’t do it . Hope I’m wrong

Do you have anything constructive to post?
My big worry Skirmish is that we go a, goal behind, then with the silly 5 subs rule teams will just kill off the game, goalscoring is our achilles heel, hopefully I'm wrong & we fly through this mini league

I wanted Woodgate as soon as I heard his interview, still do TBH but I have no qualms with what you say, it's your club too & just as concerned as the rest of us

We're back to the old new normal!

Personally i have zero faith in Woodgate. Will we go down? God knows, we're about to enter a very strange chapter that feels like it could be a bit of a lucky dip. With players out of contract, and some returning from injuries it doesn't feel like we're in a great position, but then some clubs may be in worse situations.

Only hope there’s three worse than us . They’ll play themselves into it as opposed to us playing our way out of it .

Edit . Don’t like saying these negative things but even Gibbo hasn’t got the craft to formulate a new order at Boro . His legs have gone ( in a leadership/financial manner )

I probably have a bit more than zero faith in him, but generally agree. He has potential but as a manager he just feels so raw and that leads to inconsistent results and performances. He shouldn't have been cutting his teeth here, certainly not in the circumstances were in. The fact there is no experience on the coaching staff at all is a massive concern and something I still can't get my head around. It's my biggest annoyance with Woodgate, it comes across as extremely arrogant and that he thinks he already knows it all.

As you say my big hope is that we're now ahead of the game in terms of "living within our means" and cost cutting other clubs will need to through that they weren't expecting to.

Wishful thinking maybe.

I reckon I have a lot more faith than Woodgate than many on this thread. Yes, he is learning on the job but also he has been thrown into a job with precious little money. Survival in this division with a new crop of talented youngsters will be an achievement. And lets be honest loads of clubs around us were in false positions in many ways, as they were spending well beyond their means in wages. We had started to address that before the season began. Possibly only those just promoted were actually living within their means like us. Many clubs would have had to confront it this summer even before COVID. Now it will threaten the future for several.
