Cameron Archer

Really not a fan of another loan, he comes in does well then goes back to villa in the summer. If we go up then great, if not then it’s yet another rebuild like the last 5 years.

As it stands we will loose players in 3 key positions in the summer, it’s a lot to rebuild in one window

Loans make more sense that 5 year deals with players that don’t work out. Every summer is a rebuild of sorts.. if we go up we’ll need a premier league rebuild and if not we have to improve the squad for a championship push. Either way it will be significant.

Ryan Giles - - sign on a permo in the summer
Alex Mowett - deserves better than West Brom
Rodrigo Muniz - might be replaced this window
Zach Steffen - sign on a permo in the summer
Chuba Akpom - extend the contract!
Duncan Watmore - could move for more money.. absolutely golden
Tommy Smith - championship stalwart
Jonny Howson - the elephant in the room.. how do you replace Howson?
Darnell Fisher - will move on to be replaced
Luke Daniels - already replaced imo
Stephen Walker - new academy batch, Willis, Gibson, Fletcher, Cornet?

Most windows see a turnover of about 11 through a mix of expiring contracts, players moving on, youth players.. etc etc etc

Michael Carrick - when asked by a local reporter about ins-and-outs in January - replied "thats football"! A process of continual refreshing and improvement. Not letting the grass growing under our feet. Carrick knows a bit about football lyke. (y)

There is also the possibility, another academy player will develop and break through, if coburn keeps scoring he will come back fired up, dont always looks for negatives, loans are part of the championship and getting out of it too!

We should be trying to keep a settled squad as far as possible. Clubs like ours don’t have the funds to compete so it makes far more sense to be buying players to sell on further down the line. It doesn’t benefit us much to get Archer fit to then play for villa next year, only for us to then find another replacement.

Of the loans, no way will we be able to afford Giles or Steffan and I doubt we would want Mowatt

If we go up then it works, but I would much rather see us build with our own players even if it doesn’t bring immediate success. Long term it will bring far more success

That’s very true but we often haven’t used the loan market well at all, the odd one is fine but hate us being this reliant on it.

I would love the loan system to be banned altogether as it only increases the gulf between the top clubs and the rest

I agree, it would be nice if we where to loan another player if we could some how tie down giles now as otherwise he may not come back next year which would be a real shame.

Steffen will only sign if we go up however I believe there is better out there if we where to gain promotion.

Luongo has gone to be replaced by Barlaser
Muniz looks like he’s on his way out with Archer coming in
one or two other fringe players being replaced isn’t going to rock the boat.

Steffen has two years on his contact.. I’d be surprised if Man City got £5m out of a deal
Giles could be closer to £5m and if we get promoted these two deal will get done imo

Even in the championship.. worth going for if we can

It may suit both if Coburn is ready to lead the line, if we go up we may well sign Archer. I was surprised we were trying for a permanent, that suggests we've got money to spend.

I'd like us to un-loan Giles by signing him on a permanent.

Mr Archer uses same agency as Giles, McGree , Roberts and Sivi and if he were to come that would make Unique Sports group the most represented at our club. So we'd definitely be contributing to their office, cake and biscuits friday club.

That seems suspiciously boro or linked with boro centric.

Do you think Gibbo's long standing love for agents rules us out of some deals, but he's happy to deal with these guys?

Who owns the agency?

It would be interesting to know how much we were prepared to pay for Archer and if it ever got to the stage of discussing a fee. I would imagine it would be in the 5M plus range plus add-ons if not more. I expect Villa to continue to spend big, so maybe an outside chance of it becoming permanent if he does well and we go up.

Gordon Stipic-Wipfler they are a BIG agency and I’ve picked the boro linked/boro centric ones out. We used to be quite close with Stellar..

I can’t see how Giles isn’t less than 10 million, but probably more. They will want similar money to Spence.

Steffan is one of the best keepers in this league, he will go for at least 10 million and likely to a top league.

We won’t sign either unless we go up
