Calum Chambers

If he's coming as CB and it means we don't ever have to see McNair play there again, I'd say 100% however, Clarke has come in and is starting to show signs of being quite a good footballer but its a squad game.

Centre half isn't somewhere i dont think Carrick will be stressing over, but if he was available for the right price i think MC would rather have him as an option than Bilongo or Hannah? Plus if we're playing 3 centre backs, plus he can be backup at RB etc... He's worth thinking about but i don't think he's top priority.

Not sure that would be a priority position unless someone wants to buy McNair.

Not a chance we’d be anywhere near able to afford his wages long term. With VDB, Fry, Clarke and most likely McNair for the rest of the season I doubt it’s a position we’re looking for in this window.

If Villa have another Cameron Archer kicking about for us though that would be great.

90% of the games McNair has ever played for us, he's played very well. Which is why our points per game rate this season and last season is significantly higher when he starts. To the extent it can't be a coincidence.
Fry, Clark and RVDB have all played well for us recently, but if and when McNair is fit and needed by us he won't let us down.

good player, wouldn't be against it under other circumstances, but I don't see him being affordable longer term. I wouldn't bring him in and stifle RVDB route to the first team, and I wouldn't use his wages, when it could be used on a better quality CF

One of those players who fans think gets better and better when he doesn't play. He's only played 1600 minutes for Villa over the last 3 seasons.

Paddy's played 1500 this season.

He's a good player and would be our best CB.
Whether we can afford him and whether we have bigger positional priorities are the questions.

Thought he was very good for us, but the only way we need a centre back is if we permanently go to 3 at the back or we decide to move on some of the players we already have.

Even if we sell McNair, we have 4 on the books.

Unai Emery saying he can leave Villa this month, would you have him on loan?
I thought he was great when we had him with us last time, although 5-6 years have now passed...
Before we got Ayling, I thought he was a potentially excellent loan for RB as he can play both RB and CB. Now, there's not really a point.

Not a chance. There's no point in buying promising kids then getting a bunch of loan players in to stifle their development.

We have Fry Clarke RVDB and paddy.
That's more than enough.

I associate him with 2016-2017, so I’d rather not.

I did say the other day I’d consider Bamford back, but that’s because I associate him more with 2014-2015 plus the glorious 2017-2018 season under King Tony. 👑
