Lets have a poll and revisit this in a few years.

I think we should go all out and spend all of the Spence money on this guy. Pretty sure indeedio agrees.

So whats everyone else think. Lets watch his career from here. Will he go on to cost mega money and be one that got away?
 
The Newyddion Gyokores Scale

£5m probably about right
£6m desperate and inflated
£7m carelessly over the the top
£8m nope, not at all. O’Hare maybe
£9m two big viks or a Garry Monk purchase
 
I've changed my mind and would be happy for us to make an offer of £15m (I do think Coventry will sell at that price).

A few months back I was confident we'd be able to sign Gayle and Armstrong but it isn't going to happen. We also have the money from Spence and Tav deals.

I'm starting to worry now we may end up with Forss and Muniz as our main front two, and with all due respect to them, I'd prefer for us to have at least one striker at the club who has proven goalscoring record.

I can also imagine the club doing something daft and allowing Coburn to go out on loan, meaning we'll only be left with four strikers, and the other two will be Watmore and Akpom.
 
why would you buy Gyokeres for 'any price' when you could buy Harry Kane for 'any price' - 'any price' dont make sense.

the key is patience and support for the players we do have - stop believing that we have a right to win every game 3-0 - otherwise "all our players are schitt" - braggards and arrogance, nasty words in football - humility & respect wins everytime...

£15m ? Desperate! And absurdly overpaying.

Not for me im afraid

But saying that, will Forss & Muniz be any better than Akpom & Watmore, time will tell
 
Would love us to sign him, but £15m+ is too much for one season and too much when we need half a dozen other signings too.

I don't think we can afford that.

Most important thing for me is I've got a club to support,anything that risks that is a no from me.

What's the buisness sense of bringing in good money then spending it all? FFP / Wages / Depts?

Gyokores is decent. Yes he was amazing at the Riverside. Yet 15mil after one decent season? Not for me as its simply to much 'eggs in one basket'. If he bombs then we are stuck with another britt on massive wages for 4-5 years.

You simply don't see any champo club even spending half that on a player. It's a completely different landscape since Monk and Pulis went crazy.

What we need to do is find a 'Gyokores' before Coventry did. Just like Joel Piroe at Swansea. They both cost around 1.5mil. It's just proof these low cost Gems exist.

I mean even prem clubs appear to be not going near him at those figures. I feel he's priced out of a move. You can understand it from Covs point of view. I imagine he'll still with them for another season.
 
We cannot afford to put all our eggs in one basket. Even if he was guaranteed to be that good again this season - which he isnt. What if he did a Darnel Fisher/Sammy Ameobi. Then what?
 
We could buy 3-4 very decent champo level players for 10-15mil.

We don't just need a CF. We arguably need two CMs and this left footed CB. So that's on top of 15mil for Gyokores? Didn't realise we are now Saudi backed 😂
 
Too pricey, we need too many players elsewhere.

If we had already had the squad we need and were just short of a forward and we brought in the 20/30m from player sales then maybe, but we cant spend the majority on one lad when we need defenders, midfielders and forwards.
