Burnley

Pope and Mcneil are probably 'sellable' assets. I don't see many more.

A few are leaving for nothing so that should help the wage bill if it's 9 on prem wages.

They pulled off the greatest bit of transfer buisness in recent years getting 25mil for wood. He only had 18 months left on his contract. Hopefully the mags want one or two of our players. Name the price 😂

Randolph probably can't remember where he left his gloves, been that long since he wore them. Fabianski is 37 so West Ham could be a good shout, but can't see them paying £40m. Pickford and Ramsdale were £28 /£30m so Pope for an extra £10m, more than Edison?

Getting back to Burnley though. I think it's bad for Northern football that they've gone. Apart from the big Manchester and Merseyside clubs there's only Newcastle and Leeds from the North.

Burnley will sell Pope but can’t see them getting £40m

Me neither.

A year left on his contract, albeit with an option of another, and they're in the financial mire now.

No club is going to pay £40m for a 30 year old keeper from a relegated team.

Huddersfield could replace them.

If they do, it's good for northern football to not have Burnley as a representative on the world stage, can't remember ever enjoying watching them play in the Premier League and they've got a "Brexit football" reputation for a reason.

Yes Weghorst cost £12 m for his two goals. Whilst Pope is a fantastic keeper who would pay £40m for him? The top paying clubs all have a decent keeper already.
I think Weghorst is a better player than his Burnley spell suggests, but right now his cost compared to value looks distinctly unappetising.

I always used to buy Weghorst on console football games. An absolute beast in the air.

I wonder if that's how Boro's CF recruitment works? Just see who's decent on a console 😂

Jokes aside. I imagine he's on a few quid as signed in Jan under the desperation of losing Wood. He's gone from regular European football to Luton on a Friday night.

What the feck is brexit football 😂😂

What the feck is brexit football 😂😂

Just a social media term that's often used to describe old fashioned and workmanlike long ball football with primarily British and Irish players.

Plenty of people used it to describe us under Pulis and Warnock too.
I've seen some people use it for Wilderball too, but the style definitely doesn't fit with the definition, even if the nationalities do.

Whether it's entirely accurate is a different matter, but Burnley have had the reputation for years.
The fact Dyche looked and sounded like a gruff security guard added to it.

£40m is nothing these days. Clubs will pay that if they need a keeper. Ramsdale was £30m and he was only supposed to be a backup this season. That transfer was mostly laughed at. They pay that amount for big risks on average players. Pope is a pretty safe signing. Only thing that goes against it is the length of his current contract.

Ramsdale was £30m at 23 year old with the intention of him being long term first choice.
Sheffield United paid £18m for him, so that inflated his price further as they tried to recoup it.
He also has resale value.

Pope is 30, they signed him for £1m in the first place, and no team will make the money back if they buy him for £40m.

That was down to a release clause I think, they had no choice but to let him go to (at the time) a relegation rival. Wasn't really a success at Newcastle but that transfer still hurt Burnley

West Ham have a no 2......Areola ?
Randolph is 3rd choice
Fabianski may be 37, but can still play on.....

How old's Lorris at Spuds ??

I'll obviously hold my hands up and admit I was wrong if they do get £40m for him, but I really, really cannot see it.

The clubs who would pay that sort of a fee for a goalkeeper are already well set.
