Britt having a nice little chuckle to himself again

Isn't your post actually a 'haters post' too by definition Nobby? The only difference is it is aimed at different human beings to the OP.

When was free speech and opinion deemed hate speech? In truth, It doesn't constitute a hate crime for me. Surely you dont want everyone to be like sheep do you Nobby_Baaaaarnes?
We're 5 in the league, unbeaten in 9 yet the sad gets on here want to knock our captain.
They really should be just enjoying the moment and our upturn in form.
BUT NO they have to find someone to slag off.

I'm sick of the negative idiots tbh....looks like you're one of them Coluka (n)

It's not Britts' fault we were daft enough to sign him for £15m. If we'd only spent £6-7m on him we'd be saying he's been a decent signing overall.
No we wouldn't. He has been a terrible signing on many levels.
He's not paid to enjoy himself and have fun - he is paid to play football superbly and to score loads of goals. He doesn't do either.

Yes there’s another player 10 goals for 20m euros. Shocking value.
Alves was poor value but we spent £15.3m on Alves and got £10.8m back for him (transfermarkt.com) and he scored 10 in 42 PL appearances, 13 in 49 overall. Not good at all, but Assombolonga's record is not much better in a league below with a £15m loss to swallow. Assombolonga is right up there with biggest financial disasters.
It is hard to argue about Mido because we lost £7.9m on him and he did nowt, the fat lump.

He’s ok, we overpaid but he puts a shift in and scores a few goals.

But if I had to pick a player to score a one on one I’d probably even pick Bettenelli over him. That header at the back stick last night was shocking too.

The frustrating thing is, if he took half of the sitters he misses he would probably be a 20 goal a season striker.

The only person I have criticised on here is you, certainly not Britt, for the hypocrisy of your post Nobby, being negative about fellow Boro human beings whose opinions are as valid as yours, mine or any other fan. Nobody is beyond criticism, not even you or I. Sorry if that is an inconvenient truth, I am sure you are wise enough to understand that being human, our players have flaws as well as strengths. Teams that are successful have people that identify weaknesses and address them.

As fans we can assess players strengths and weaknesses, we are all wannabe Neil Warnocks, we just don’t have the power to address them. If it bothers you seeing a player be criticised, maybe a football message board is not the best place to be, alternatively you could just post a positive response rather than just sniping at posters for the sake of it. Tell us why we are lucky to have Britt and explain his assets as a counter response maybe, just a thought.

I can't agree with you there Indeedido.

Let's look at his first season. Before Pulis took over, Britt was the 2nd top goalscorer in the division. I've looked at the stats - he'd scored 11 goals in 21 appearances whilst Monk was in charge. Much as I dislike Monk, I think out of all the manager's Britt has played under, Monk understood how to get the best out of Britt more than anyone else. There's every reason to think Britt would have scored 20+ goals that season had Monk stayed until the end of the season.

2nd season under Pulis he scored 14 goals, which is decent considering he was played with his back to goal as a lone striker/target man, and he was in and out of the side.

Think it's unfair again to really criticise anyone for how they performed under Woodgate, as the guy was clueless.

Because of his price tag we've all been expecting him to be a 20+ goals a season striker. He's a decent striker at this level, and we overpaid for what we thought was a quality striker at this level. That's not his fault.

It is not his fault what he cost the Club and what he earns, but it is absolutely relevant when assessing whether he has been good value or not.
The facts are he has never scored more than 15 in any of his six seasons above League One. He's never got remotely near being the league's top scorer. If we had known that when he signed everyone would have been very disappointed.
My opinion is we could not get a fee for him in Jan and he has no chance of a new deal anywhere on the same terms.
We will have dropped £15m plus agents fees and upwards of £8m in wages. That really does matter.
We're not going to change each other's minds I suspect and I genuinely respect you as a poster, so let's agree to disagree.

A bad captain. A captain that uses the armband so he can take free kicks so he has a chance of getting some more goals when in reality he's terrible at them proves he is not captain material. Puts himself before the needs of the team. Should be pemanaently wrapped around Howson's bicep. He should be sleeping with it on

He always gets double figures , the good thing right now is he hasn’t contributed much goal wise in our first ten games yet we’re at the top end of the league.
So it’s just a matter of time before he bangs a few in and there aren’t that many places above us to move to .

I think there’s other reasons Britt has it . It’s possible geared to try and bring out the best in him and also sign a new contract possibly.

I would have thought there is more to a captain”s role than deciding who takes free kicks but you seem to have decided he is a bad one for that reason alone. Anyway thats from what I read from your post. You may have other reasons but don’t specify.

I don’t know if he is bad or not but you judge a team on results and attitude and on that particular score he can’t be accused of failing.

So everyone lauds Warnock for his man management for getting the best out of people

but he’s terrible at picking a captain.....

doenst add up

We see many look absolutely gutted when they’ve just scored a goal , just stand there motionless looking in the air like someone’s just shat in their kettle
