Box office premier league games

Good thing it's incredibly easy to watch Premier League matches for free, and there's little to feel guilty about doing so.

Exactly. The fact these prices are so high and ridiculous just means more and more are going to start/continue using IPTV.

Sky/BT monthly costs are high enough as it is. To then put some games on for PPV is just ridiculous to be honest.

Much rather pay the IPTV crooks than the BT/Skysports thieves.

The Daily Mail are reporting that it isn't going very well so far and that BT and Sky might actually lose money from the cost of showing the games.
Newcastle and Man Utd fan groups set up pages to donate £14.95 to a local foodbank which was a nice touch, don't know how much they raised .
I saw on Twitter that Newcastle fans had raised 60k.

Burnley mate won’t pay £14.95 For their game at West Brom tonight. Personal decision obviously but he knows many that won’t. Doesn’t help that they aren’t playing well.
If West Brom win tonight surely that's Dyche's job in danger?

I pay £12 per month for Sky Sports HD, thats for a lot of football across the PL and EFL, cricket, F1 (not that I watch that), rugby, basketball and whatever else.

Is £3 a week really a rip off? I know some people pay more but no one should be paying more than £20/month, all you have to do is ask.

I don't care what the extra PPV games cost cos I won't be watching them. If fans of said clubs choose to cough up for them that's their business.

I wonder what sort of figures these PPV games are getting.

Sky have refused to share this data as it is seemingly 'commercially sensitive'. Read in to that as you wish.
If they get more than 20k customers per game, I'd be shocked.

Ha! There's a surprise. I guess they expected another windfall and received quite a shock!

A chap I have known for many years is a Foxes Season Card Holder and he was proud to tell me that Leicester City were the only premier club to vote against the pay-per-view decision. He says the club felt it was unfair on fans who pay through the nose for TV packages and that fans are facing financial problems due to covid. If only the "big 6" had been so concerned about fans and not just their own pockets.........but we know about them dont we.

Sky don't give the figures for any of their games - they count anyone channel-surfing across a game as a viewer.

By the way - he listened to Leicesters 1-0 defeat on local radio - hes refusing to pay per view.
Something like "they can shove their ******* ****** and Man U and Liverpool can just +++++++++ themselves.:love:(y)

The thing is, how do you know thats not enough? They presumably set their price point at a level that makes it worth their while with regards the cost of the operation involved, that is just about within the realms of what the forecasted numbers will realistically pay. I don't know what that target figure is, but for these extra PPV games I'd be very surprised if they were expecting million of viewers per match.

I’d guess the UK market is insignificant here.
They will get massive viewing figs from China, Far East, India and Middle East, That‘s where they will make their money and the ‘costs’ are sunk into that operation..
This is just a bit of icing on the cake from UK fans who are so engaged in their team they will pay the £15.

That's the Premier League, though, not Sky.

Possibly. Would Burnley v West Brom attract a big audience in India though?

Maybe it is, but looking at the sort of figures they get for PL fixtures - in the millions - is 20k at £15 what they anticipated?
See if they review the prices and reduce them after a few weeks.
