Bournemouth Tickets - On Sale 4pm to 190+ Points

I don't agree with the unattainable Gold status, that's my only real problem with the points system.

I'm fine with not having it myself, as I've not been a season ticket holder long enough for it to matter, and I don't go to enough away matches for it to ever be an actual issue for me, but I do think it should be something that you can earn after a set period of time, rather than it only ever being available to the people who have continously renewed since the Riverside opened.

It's coming up 27 years now, there's surely a sizeable portion of the crowd who wouldn't have even been able to go in 1995.
I was 2 years old when the stadium opened.

100% agree on gold cards, it’s long being a bone of contention for me.

I have chairman’s drink status and zero way of getting to gold card.

It would make much more sense to have clearly defined tiers -

Gold Card - 10 years
Chairman’s Drink - 5 years

Those could be higher but just an example.

Also bring back the pride cards, southern fans who can’t commit to a season card can then get one and give themselves money off home tickets and say 25 points which gives them the chance to purchase away tickets before they hit general sale.

Then do we have a platinum card for those who are gold at the moment
They have still been going a lot longer than 10 years

Traffic will be very heavy. I live in North London but don’t fancy the drive even from here. Could get the train but equally that will be jam packed going to the coast.
Yes be warned anybody choosing on driving there. The M27 at the New Forest on a Bank Holiday is probably the worst road in the country for horrendous traffic jams. I have had first hand experience.

There should be priority point levels for the number of years you have held a season ticket.

The season ticket is the major source of revenue for the club.

Gold status should be given to anyone with 20 years on their card no matter when the years were - post 1995 (club don't have any earlier records).

In general the points system does work - the highest number of points comes from holding a season ticket in the last 2 years.

Possibly some points could be earned by buying products from the club shop in addition to tickets, say 1 point for every £20 spent in one transaction. So if you spent £60 in the shop today you get 3 points.

Sunderland used to have two points systems - one for the shop and one for matches. Personally I think it very wrong that anyone should be able to jump up a ticket queue from making a purchase in the shop.

I agree with the your points. The only other issue I have is for young fans who miss out because they are not old enough, why should they only get 70points for a year, these are our fans of the future.

Having only 70points a season could create a nightmare for families with youngster who want to go to the away games. Especially if, dare I say it, we get promoted and tickets are even harder to come by. My son is 9 and has now amassed 176 points, but if the points start at 190 then we (myself included @186 pts) could miss out, even though we have got 36 points (atm) over the last 2 seasons to someone who has only got 30 points.

Do the club carry out research with people who have stopped going or go less frequently to find out what has caused this?

I definitely drifted away from attending home matches after they binned the Pride Card. I've only attended one home match this season.

The retail points would be worth less than ticket points - at one point per £20 a fan would have to spend a minimum of £700 in the club shop to replicate a season ticket for one year. A 35 point max could be set for retail purchases too.

I would back the Pride Card re/introduction. In marketing terms it helps form a commercial and emotional relationship. I agree previous Pride fans need to be consulted. £10 up front fee then £4 ticket discount sound the sort of thing for it to work. Its for the 6 to 8 game a season fan.

Ref kids - the issue is more an issue for young children. I know families do take young children to away games, but generally its not as common as taking them to home games. It would complicate but maybe one young child could have a ticket joined with one adult, until they were say 12. So John Smith could purchase a named child ticket junior Smith with the adult priority points of John Smith. That Junior Smith ticket could not be changed once purchased, say upgraded to an adult one, which can happen at present. What that solve the problem and be fair to all?

btw - Bournemouth tickets still a lot available on 70 points

The amount of posts on here (and every other thread each time it is brought up) shows there is a definite need for a fan involved review of (a) Match tickets sales & prices and (b) the Priority Points system.

I would imagine the other members of the forums have similar kinds of threads/discussions, certainly the more established ones.

Interesting post by DCI

You will never please everyone - lots of personal agendas at play too.

Also gets me thinking about the running of the Club and how decisions are made. SG has done a very good job and help improve the club from where it was in the 1980s and before, but sometimes it would be in my opinion a progressive move to involve a wide group of core fans a bit more in some of the decision making that directly affects the fans on the non playing side.

100% right - never ever please everyone but at least if fans are involved they can have some say and if it's not right some of the fingers can be pointed back at us.

A a caveat I would say it has to be a wider x section of fans than just the regulars who are part of the Supporters Forum.

If it's all about raising money for the club then you might as well cut to the chase: have a bunch of £100 tickets for each game and put them on general sale right away.

Whenever posts around tickets and priority points arise, it only ever seems to be people worrying unnecessarily, or issues with the principle of it rather than not actually getting a ticket, which i think shows the system works quite well.

obviously there will be the odd one but I don't think there has been huge swathes of people disadvantaged. (Anecdotal evidence only )
