Derek Mathews is the name of the former ticket office manager that put the system in place. He used his experience to come up with some of the specifics - points for Travel Club etc but left a mechanism so that those changes could be reversed or altered and that has happened.I meant that the actual details of the scheme were put in place with out consultation. At the time it was announced I had a meeting with the guy who was brought in as ticket office manager and he very much told me that the details of how the scheme worked had been decided by the club alone.
I think its worked well. Much better than I expected.Derek Mathews is the name of the former ticket office manager that put the system in place. The points are in 2 year cycles aren't they. So, it does partly reset.
It could be time for a big debate in the summer possibly but it seems to me the priority points have been mostly working. People always try to bend rules and cheat systems don't they but surely most people are honest in their intentions in the way they use priority points.
Yes that was the one thing I thought didn't feel right.Fans originally got points for travel on club transport.
Not really fair for fans away from Teesside or ones needing special transport.
Actually, I think most people posting on here have been approving of how well it works. But I would agree it is something that has to be constantly reviewed, doesn't it.I think its worked well. Much better than I expected.
But from posts on here (which are presumably similar views on the other forums/boards) there is a strong feeling that the system doesn't work fairly so perhaps it is time for a review of how the system works, a review which includes the Supporters Forum?
Overall it does work well , and a huge improvement on the previous 'free for all' when away tickets were released.Derek Mathews is the name of the former ticket office manager that put the system in place. Can the forum ask the club to give more information on how they thought it was right to bypass the points system and allow Season Ticket holders to buy tickets for family/friends for the Spurs/Chelsea matches? We were just looking at an agenda for the next meeting - I will add this
But if anyone ever wants something raised with Middlesbrough Supporters Forum and therefore with the club please do make contact via the Boro.Support website - you don't need to wait for me to post a thread on here.

It's a fair point and something that should be included in any review of the system - perhaps the few of us ( I guess it's somewhere between 2-3000 people now) could be rewarded in a different way?I don't agree with the unattainable Gold status, that's my only real problem with the points system.
I'm fine with not having it myself, as I've not been a season ticket holder long enough for it to matter, and I don't go to enough away matches for it to ever be an actual issue for me, but I do think it should be something that you can earn after a set period of time, rather than it only ever being available to the people who have continously renewed since the Riverside opened.
It's coming up 27 years now, there's surely a sizeable portion of the crowd who wouldn't have even been able to go in 1995.
I was 2 years old when the stadium opened.
We did ask and it came as a result of season card holders requesting this. Lots of people contacted them through the season saying they wanted to take guests and/or move to be with other people. Can the forum ask the club to give more information on how they thought it was right to bypass the points system and allow Season Ticket holders to buy tickets for family/friends for the Spurs/Chelsea matches?
Specifically how many is the "many" that the club said asked for it and why the club didn't consult with the Supporters forum before deciding to go ahead with it.
Would someone from the club who is able to answer those questions be at the next meeting?
You've not communicated that as far as I'm aware Rob, both myself & @BoroFur asked you about it but unless I've missed a post somewhere (and if I have I apologise) it's not been communicated. We did ask and it came as a result of season card holders requesting this. Lots of people contacted them through the season saying they wanted to take guests and/or move to be with other people.
We did find out that the numbers were nothing like as high as feared. 4000 from 16 000 season card holders v Chelsea.
But you have to take their word for it because why else would they do it? It makes far more work for the club etc.
25% is very high. As a season card holder I found it nuts we could by extra tickets and bypass the points system. We did ask and it came as a result of season card holders requesting this. I can understand this for league games where we have a surplus of spare capacity but not for cup games. We did ask and it came as a result of season card holders requesting this. Lots of people contacted them through the season saying they wanted to take guests and/or move to be with other people
I agree re Gold Card. It's a fair point and something that should be included in any review of the system - perhaps the few of us ( I guess it's somewhere between 2-3000 people now) could be rewarded in a different way?
This is me, season ticket for 23 years, do every away game and can never achieve this status. Its irrelevant though for me in terms of getting tickets, not sure how many gold people we have now after such a long period. What happens when all the gold season card holders unfortunately pop their clogs. I am in favour that the longer you have had ticket the more loyalty you should get of course, anyone that has held a season ticket from ayresome park days is a saint. I was also told by the club there was no away season ticket this year at the start of the season, but apparently there is still, have to set alarm and go through the rat run login every time for away ticket, only benefit is getting to choose seat. The loyalty system works well ,or course everyone going to have a grip on their own biases but generally the more you back/follow/support boro and the more games you get to the greater priority you have in obtaining tickets, can get fairer than that really.I don't agree with the unattainable Gold status, that's my only real problem with the points system.

Tip - Buying home tickets for others at the MFC ticket office, does help get your points up.
Per MFC rules..Does it?
My brother bought additional tickets for the Spurs and Chelsea games and didn’t get any additional points
It didn’t in the cup games but I bought some this season for non season ticket holders via my e-ticket account for home league games and built up points, up to 199 points now.Does it?
