Boros 6 signings.

I don't think they've publicly stated the price, it's just speculation. The guy has never played a single first team game for wolves, so nobody is paying anywhere near that for Giles.
Trafford hadn't played a single game above league one, not a single game for City, and he's gone for £19 mill

The only way I see us getting Giles and Archer is loan with obligation to buy if we are promoted. I think Villa and Wolves will get better offers. If we had parachute money then I can understand some of the figure’s people are stating, but those are not realistic for where our club is at the moment. Lets not forget in addition to the fees there will be as much commitment to wages. We are in no way able to fund that, even if we sell Chuba.

While I hope we can strike a deal for Giles, paying - say - £7m for a LB in our financial position is a bit daft - especially when Manning is kicking about for a free (and his stats are comparative to Giles.... better defender and scored more). But if Wolves start playing silly b*ggers regarding fee, sure there are alternatives we have lined up. And. Wouldn't have let Bola go if we didn't have something lined up. Watch this space I hope.

As for the keeper situation, I'm a bit old fashioned in that primarily I like to see keepers being able to save shots, command the area etc. Playing out from the back to the standard of Edison or Allison is a massive bonus. Dieng is a very good shot stopper (better than Steffen) and can play out from the back (not as good as Steffen). So overall very good signing.

The rest 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️. Law of averages, two good, two alright, two don't work out .....so let's see. All promising on paper, hope they are all class👍

That would be Trafford who has played at every England level though, what about Giles....

Fact is for all Giles great attacking play, he still has a very long way to go defensively. Trafford is superb already and a future England senior keeper. Giles won't play for England. It's like comparing a 20 year old David Seaman with a 22 year old Jimmy Phillips.

law of averages? why can’t the all be good? they’ve been mostly shyte before.. Strachan, Monk, Pullis.. maybe we’re due a change.

They all look canny.. let’s just wait for them to kick a ball before two of them are shyte.. maybe?

They might be. Might be sat on a goldmine, 2-3 years down the line sell them for a combined £100m 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Or they might all be average.🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Or a couple might be good, couple average, couple just drift off in a year or two to League 1.🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

As with all Boro signings, I hope they all turn out to be excellent players and contribute massively next season. Even if two nail down a first team position, two contribute from the bench mostly, and two take a season to get up to speed - that's a cracking job by the recruitment team 👍

Obviously, Wolves are in the driving seat regarding Giles but the quotes I read over the weekend make me think they are going to sell him and they are aware of his limitations. Their DoF said something along the lines of - He no longer looks like a winger playing at left back. Well, unless he was talking about someone else, to me he looked like a winger playing at left back. I would imagine any genuine left back with Giles stats would have premier league interest, which he does not seem to have. If he is to be a left back for the prices mentioned he has to be the full package surely and he isn’t. He then becomes an expensive project, which is not what Boro do now.
