Boros 6 signings.

I don’t see these as players who are going to get us promoted - we need players who either know this league or have played at a higher level.
I believe this statement is based on the fact that we dont know what these players are capable of yet.

Give them all a chance just like Hackney was given, they could all turn out to be stars or maybe it will bring out the best in Jeremy Sivi, Coburn and other academy lads.

We havent kicked a ball yet lets reserve judgement till people have worn the shirt

I am reliably informed that Tom Davies (released by Everton at end of June) is training with us.

25yr old, Centre-Mid former young player of the year, etc.
He looked terrible playing for Everton end of last season not sure if he was coming back from injury but did not look great

What do we all expect this season? Apparently 3 senior players are coming in next week, I think we will be in the play offs, top 2 doubt it

Loving the new strategy of young players with potential. Can’t obviously expect them all to have an impact next season, but hopefully 2 or 3 can establish themselves.

Only worry is that they won’t be happy on the bench or in the reserves. I think Gilbert told Brentford he didn’t want to stay as he wanted 1st team football.

I’m sure it’s under control though, and these conversations have been had. 3 or 4 quality loans in the obvious positions we are short and we’re really well set for a promotion run.

Crucially for me, these signings should mean we get better in future seasons if it doesn’t happen next season.

Thinking about how our team and subs looks as it stands

Dieng
Smith - Fry/McNair - Lenihan - Coulson
Howson - Hackney
Jones - Akpom - McGree
Forss

Roberts/Glover, McNair/Fry, van den Berg, Dijksteel, Barlaser, Crooks, Rogers, Gilbert, Silvera

Don't see any of the new signings except Dieng starting for us initially but obviously outgoings and injuries may change that. It also depends on whether Carrick rotates more than last season. Last season he didn't rotate at all. That may change because I think it hurt us towards the end of the season.

I'm excited to see how these young lads develop but we do definitely still need some experience bringing in. It's risky because it may turn out that like Hoppe last season, none of the young players are ready to be involved with the first-team.

I'd like to see Ramsey return but we have a lot of options now in the wide areas, so I think we should prioritise possibly bringing Giles and Archer back.

We also need another midfielder bringing in as we currently only have Howson, Hackney and Barlaser.

The Championship needs big squads because its 46 games. I am sure new signings (who have played at this level) will get some pitch time. I feel we have suffered a bit by having too few players which has left us playing players who needed a bit of a rest or were carrying knocks

I'd like to see Djiksteel start ahead of Smith this season. Smith performed well for a period of time under Carrick but I thought he really struggled in the final games.

Don't think he's quite good enough to play a full season if we're serious about promotion.

The question I keep asking myself, and admittedly I can be a bit of a critical guy at times, is do any of the 6 signing make a marked improvement on our best side from last season?

I’m not sure they do
Possibly not this season, but in 3 years time the club will be in a significantly better position for making signings like this

Really hope we can move on from this quick fix reliance with loans, even if it meant another few years of not challenging it’s worth it

Smith needs to be replaced, Howson needs replacing / competing with, chuba needs replacing.

The team looks much worse than last season on paper if these lads aren't being brought in to play football

Dieng is probably about the same level as Steffen.

Clearly the rest don't improve on our best 1st 11 from last season but that's not (least I hope not) why we bought them. They have largely been brought in for the medium term and to provide some depth. That said, I can see Morgan Rogers possibly hitting a similar level to Ramsey after Christmas.

We still need to replace Giles, Archer, Ramsey and Mowatt with, ideally, players that are equally as good. I suspect we'll be looking for a couple of key premier league loans and another couple of experienced signings. If we can pull this off, we will be in a better position than last season.

My preferences for the rest of the window would be
the cake: Tom Cannon (loan, Everton), Tom Davies (free - assuming the link is legit), Ryan Giles/Manning
the icing: Jan Paul van Hecke (Brighton), Aaron Ramsey (loan)

Not sure we really need Ramsey unless Chuba goes.
Getting Archer back would be amazing but I don't see how it happens.

Everton midfielder Tom Davies posts emotional farewell letter

1688843702596.png
Everton midfielder Tom Davies has spoken for the first time about his departure from the club.

Davies has turned down a new contract offer from the Toffees, despite coming through the club's Academy.

Over the past two years, Davies has only started six Premier League games, leading to his desire to move on.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Evertonians — the time has come for me to move on to a new chapter in my career.

"It is one I have thought long and hard about and it feels like now is the right moment for me as a player.

"I always had belief that I would play for our club but I had no idea how beautiful and fulfilling it would be! I would like to thank the club, the city and the fans for making my dreams become such a beautiful reality for me!

"Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey, especially the coaches, staff and players in the academy who helped me, challenged me, and developed me into the player and human I am today — for this I can't thank you all enough.

"I have had some great highs as a player and as a part of this club; scoring my first goal, becoming our youngest captain and playing in European competition. I am extremely proud of these accomplishments and with these experiences I am ready and determined to go on to achieve even more.

"I'd also like to thank Everton in the Community. It has been an honor to have been so involved with the work that you do. EitC has given me some amazing and humbling experiences during my years which I'll take with me. I plan to continue my work with you.

"Finally, I'd like to share that the recent times with the club have been difficult for me. I know they have been difficult for you too. I hope that they can be sorted out as soon as possible so that we can get back to the stability we deserve.

"I loved being apart of everything this club stands for. I am proud to have given all I had in every moment I could. Thank you all again…for everything. You have made a young lads dream come true! I'll see you again at Goodison because I'll always be an Evertonian!"

I am not concerned as things stand, because it is only July 8th.

I would be massively concerned if we kicked off with what we now have, but we won't.

The key things outstanding are the key things as at the end of last season.

1. Will Chuba Akpom be with us as No10? If not we will be significantly weaker and will not find better. It is a huge hole if he goes, I really hope he stays and hasn't just funded the signings we've just made.

2. Will we manage to get Cameron Archer back either on loan, or signed permanently? If not we will be significantly weaker and we will not find better. Forss should stay as first choice wide right for me, he is not good enough to replace Archer.

3. Will we sign Ryan Giles or better to play left back? If not we will be significantly weaker.

Other significant issues for me are:

4. Will we sign a quality defensive midfielder to compete with/cover Howson? I'd personally rather it not be Tom Davies.

5. Will we sign a Right Back, or will Dijksteel be deemed good enough?

I've no idea whether Dieng is good enough, but he's clearly going to be the keeper. I've got no Steffen withdrawal symptoms.
The young Dutch CB seems a really good recruit.

It seems they've signed too many left sided forward players (Silvera, Rogers, Gilbert) now to be getting Ramsey back. I'd obviously far prefer Ramsey to those we have signed to play wide.
The Aussie direction concerns me a bit as I'm not a big fan of McGree and think the A League is dire. Hope I'm wrong about them.

I think the club will still play the loan market to bring in quality and I do think they have the scope to make a very big signing from an FFP perspective.

We are weaker just now than we were in April.
I think we will be stronger at the end of the window, as Akpom will stay, Archer will be here and we will have a very good new LB and DM.
And I'd still love Diallo on loan.
