Boropolis podcast Neil Warnock interview.

Should have stuck with him bit crafty lining up wilder and look how that turned out .
There was a false narrative building around Warnock that started before the season started (mainly from twitter and podcast types).. similar to the knives being our for Karanka. Lots of noises coming out of the media (Maddo) at the time regarding formations and playing two upfront.

I don’t remember anything of the sort about Pulis despite his obvious shortcomings or Chris Wilder who seemed to have some sort of spell cast over the majority of fans and media!?!

Good listen that and a bit of a coup for them. I like the Boropolis podcast and it’s good to have decent boro podcasts to listen to, along with the Boro Breakdown and a couple of others. Sadly a few decent boro podcasts seem to have petered out, like the Middlesbruh Podcast, or never really got going (Erimus Analysis, One of Our Own, etc). Good to hear a few different opinions and styles, even Bernie Slaven’s where he’s often being a cynical old fart!

Thought Warnock was his usual entertaining self and definitely has a few things to get off his chest, rightly or wrongly. I think it’s going to be very one sided, like with some of the stuff players have said about Karanka, so it will be interesting if more ever comes out from others involved. Regardless, it throws the gauntlet down at a few individuals to get some big decisions right…

Good listen 👌

I hold no mallace about warnock. He came in and did an amazing job to keep us up. Then rightly got another year for doing that.

I just think in the end it was like all managers (Wilder included) as in he ran out of ideas and blamed recruitment. Also his football had been 'found out' (again like wilder).

One thing I will say is that we handled the whole thing in a shocking way. Ok I get managers know that the club are chatting to new managers a few weeks before. Yet yet the whole not letting him in his office etc was really poor. Also not something I'd expect of Boro.

I also noted how from day one Wilder wouldn't say his name at pressers. It's interesting that he mentioned that. He always refered to him as the 'former manager'. It makes me wonder if they don't get on or had a bust up?

All in all I think he came across well. I expected him to be a bit more scathing about a few things. He likes the club. Just not the former manager and the way he was sacked. That's fair enough and hardly surprising.

I'd have asked 'did you want Payero?'

He may answer at his Q&A when he mentions these targets he missed out on.

False narratives? Without kick starting the same old NW arguments the results and performances under Warnock were completely underwhelming. It was only a matter of time before he was gone - Wilder or not.

NW did a job and kept us up, forever grateful for that alone ... wonder what the underlying issue is between NW and CW ... both blades as well ( bit like Clough and Revie)

Well I wouldn't say he was a Boro legend. But he took over in the middle of lockdown, and I'll be forever grateful that I was able to watch a Boro that played with some spirit during what was quite a scary and lonely time. It really was a massive lift to me to stick the stream on at the weekend to watch us play.
Hear hear and I felt the same about his press conferences too, were always a lift during a lonely time.
