Not really, I read their forum a lot it's quite funny, some south Durham Maks + ones who had a scare at AP dislike us, the North Durham, South Tyneside Maks, Wearside the vast bulk of their support are all focussed on the Mags and we normally don't come on their radar.
 
It’s fair to say that Sunderland fans obsession with Newcastle means any game against Boro doesn’t compare. However, to state it’s just another game is nonsense. The vitriol that is attached to the game doesn’t happen unless it’s Boro v Sunderland. Some Mackems might say they don’t care, but police escorts don’t happen for all away fans at Sunderland.

The funny thing about Newcastle and Sunderland as rivals. I work in Newcastle loads and some Newcastle fans genuinely don’t care about the Mackems now - especially those north of the Tyne and specifically those in Northumberland. It’s been five years since they played and their focus is elsewhere.
 
I've been to sunderland games many times, they make out its just another game, they must sing we hate (team name) as they sing at Boro, strange if thsts the cse
 
I work in Peterlee now and it’s mainly Mackems but it’s all about Newcastle for them. I’m the only person from Boro my colleagues know, so they’re no real bragging rights if either of us win the next Tees Wear derby !!
