Boro or England or Both?

Boro for me by a long way, felt quite relaxed last night watching England. I'm not like that watching Boro 👍
Maybe it would feel different if I went to watch England live but I doubt it...

They both bring me similar amounts of joy when we win. But it hurts more when the boro lose. Although it will be tough to get over a defeat in a Euros final. Come on England

Boro are numero uno.

Sir Gareth and his players have rekindled my support and faith in England. He has a great crop and I am looking forward to see just how far they can progress before they peak (i hope and pray yesterday wasn’t it).

I didnt feel that rush and happiness with england compared to when boro score. Pleased yes bur not ecstatic.

Both. Support the national side as much as Boro, but it helps when there are Boro connections.

I wonder if it is different when you live near the town as opposed to living remotely as I do.
I would never class myself as big a fan as you guys who attend matches do.

It depends really, Boro getting promoted or England winning on Sunday, I’d take England. Boro winning the CL/PL or England winning the World Cup id take Boro.

Cricket England over Yorkshire, I couldn’t imagine jumping up and down like I did when England won the World Cup, if Yorkshire won the CC
Rugby I have no club team so that’s easy

The good thing is fellas we don’t need to choose. There is enough space in our hearts to love them both and enjoy them both.

Boro for me by a mile.

Like someone said above, I was relaxed last night watching the game, if it was a Boro semi final and we were going into the final minutes with a one goal lead I'd be a bag of nerves.

I remember crying at Wolves when we got promoted and at Cardiff when we won the cup, that emotion just isn't in me with England.

The Norwich play off defeat devastated me as did the Cup Final defeats, but if England lose on Sunday it wouldn't really bother me.

Not sure why I feel so different about the two.

What I do know is that I find it mildly annoying that whenever England do well, every man, woman and dog in the country is on the bandwagon and suddenly a football expert.

If Boro have any element of success, it's just us that feel it. No other clubs fans can come along for the ride, like they can with England, if that makes sense.

Good post & can agree with all that

The England from the 1990s onwards were a team of prima donnas. Players who always underachieved on the world stage and yet some were deluded into thinking they were world class.

They were detached from the fans and with their WAGS parading around they became resented for this. Here we now have humble players with a humble manager who wants to connect with the media and fans. They want us to take pride in our national team and be part of the journey. It was never like this before.

This has made me feel more patriotic and empathetic to their success.

I love Boro and always will since a boy it's in my DNA. I have learnt to love England more now because of Gareth and his incredible managerial approach, and his respect for the person on the street.

England, then Boro for me.

As mentioned above, when you move away from the area, you feel a little detached from the club.

Followed England Home and away, on and off, since 1986. Met some great lads from loads of different clubs. Been to loads of tournaments, the atmosphere away was always fantastic.

Been great times with Boro, relegation and promotion from the old 3rd division, Carling Cup win, Europe etc but mix in the dross at the Riverside season after season, the passion and excitement dies a little.

Strangely I've been away from the area for over 40 years now and probably feel more attached to Boro as the years go by - nostalgia I suppose. Mind you I was fanatical about them growing up and in my 20s. I can take or leave England and only started watching them this tournament in the hope Gareth could stick one up to the naysayers. Having said that, I did watch them win the World Cup as a 16-year-old so it's been all downhill since then.
