He'll be back to replace Rishi when the Tories think he's their best chance of reelection. Millions will vote for him as well sadly.
Frozen Horse, assuming the vote goes the way we all expect, even if he stands in a safe seat he still has to complete his 90 day suspension which would trigger a recall. He is done mate. Can he actually become party leader when he's not a sitting MP?
I've no doubt there's enough Brexit-absolves-all-sins voter's out there to win him a seat somewhere, but would that be too late for him to lead at the GE?
Thangam Debbonaire, absolutely obliterating the government
I just caught a bit of the Times Radio discussion on YouTube. Good point was made that this is now a very real test for Sunak. He has to face down the remaining Johnson acolytes, if he fails to do that he will be forever in the crosshairs of Johnson sniping from the sidelines. Start by withdrawing the whip from Mad Nads. The likes of Fabricant and JDM will sharp pipe down or get the same treatment.
It will be interesting to see if he has the nous, the political savvy to do that. Rubberstamp the exclusion of Johnson and perhaps disbar him from the Conservative Party.
The apologists still seem to think it is about him have a bit of cake. Which just shows how far down the rabbit hole they are.
Says the man about the man who has just given him a knighthood. Parody is very dead.@SimonClarkeMP
I am amazed at the harshness of today’s report by the Privileges Committee. I believed Boris before and I believe him today. This punishment is absolutely extraordinary to the point of sheer vindictiveness, and I will vote against this report on Monday.
Moral cowardice is the term that Labour should repeat, repeat, repeatBeing reported that it’s possible that a very large number of Tories will either not turn up, or abstain in the vote on Monday. Frightened of the response of their electors apparently.
Typically spineless.
Not sure I necessarily agree with this. All politicians weigh electoral impact before doing anything and that is a cross party thing, with a short hiatus during Corbyn reign.Moral cowardice is the term that Labour should repeat, repeat, repeat
A PM lying to Parliament with impunity means the end of democracy . We would be left with an authoritarian, corrupt regime with no accountability, free to rob and plunder the public purse. Surely Houtchen doesn't want that? Oh, hang on.
It is moral cowardice when they all know he lied, they all know he broke parliamentary standards and covid rules, but they're all scared to vote against him because it might cost them some votes from the Johnson cultists. Not sure I necessarily agree with this. All politicians weigh electoral impact before doing anything and that is a cross party thing, with a short hiatus during Corbyn reign.
It's a fact of political life, unfortunately.

I saw this woman on the news yesterday and I just can’t accept that she has said that of her own free will. Surely she’s been given a backhanded to come out with that?Yup. BBC journalists are working hard tracking them down. I think the saying is "thick as a whale omelette".
