Boris about to give an update

Quite disappointing this update. 'We don't want you to go to the pub or restaurant but you can if you want to'.

'We're no longer supporting mass gatherings'. What the hell does that mean?

The air of indecision is palpable.
Quite simple really.
They are telling people to use some common sense rather than having to he spoon fed and led by the hand.

When the country requires strong leadership, this bumbling buffoon asks people not to go to the pub, doesn’t ban public gatherings and asks People to work from home but doesn’t shut schools.

Total charlatan.

Just look at videos of the people in Benidorm. Probably mainly foreigners. Do you trust these people to do the right thing for the good of the people in the UK? When the UK people in Benidorm are back in the UK.

It needs to be enforced. Not asked for.

No I don't agree with what you're saying Boroproud. Mass gatherings only take place as planned, organised events. Pop concerts, the theatre, the cinema etc. If that's the case the government should introduce a legally binding ban with sanctions if the law is broken. It's got nothing to do with being spoon fed.

Probably? Almost certainly you mean. Bunch of assholes.
I did not want to point the finger at just people from the UK. However I do agree with your comment.

We had Swedish hotel guests go out on our golf course. After our lock down. With the authorities having to be called to remove them from the course.

That said it was irritating that Johnson stopped just short of compulsorily closing pubs and restaurants and clubs. He expects the proprietors to do the “ sensible thing”. They are desperate for money. They won’t be sensible in terms of public health but sensible in terms of the business viability.

The position on schools is interesting. The government are terrified of closing for what could be an incredibly long timeframe. Imagine closing now with 35 deaths from COVID19 and then suggesting re-opening after Easter (4 weeks or so) when deaths have reached thousand and cases tens of thousands. Once schools close they are likely to be out for months which for all concerned students and their families will be a nightmare. Saying that many parents are now voting with their feet and removing their children so this position will become untenable by the end of the week.

One of them just said "It spares children" when discussing closing schools. What happens to the grandparents that the children infect?

BJ looks a nervous beady eyed wreck.
To be fair to him, he must be under tremendous pressure and fully cognisant of the potential outcomes of every decision. As long as he shows leadership and honesty then he'll be ok and I say that as someone who has had difficulty understanding the logic behind his earlier press conferences. This one is more reassuring even it is considerably more alarming.

They're gradually putting measures in place.

Going WHAM! NO ONE ON THE STREETS! EVERYWHERE CLOSED! SCHOOLS SHUT!

will simply lead everyone to panic more than they are already.

Have a look at the papers around Europe. They're all going were not doing enough! Why aren't we doing what such and such country is doing.
