Borges is terrible

Why did he keep showing him inside though. That's basic. Let me speechless every time. We've got a real of coaches/analysts surely he's been told
Agreed. It wasn't good at all but it was nowhere near as bad as Engel has played consistently for us.

What got me second half, Hamilton drifting left, but cutting in on his right, Borges didn't once go outside (past him) him to create and stretch the Sunderland defence as thin as possible and create space in the middle, I haven't seen him overlap and knock a good ball in and defensively he is average...surely Carrick will have worked on this to create space?

Engel has had some utterly woeful games for us. The Sheff Wed and Stoke games in particular. He has also had some very good games for us. Player of the Match a couple of times last year too.

However, we got to the point where he would be slated when he had an average game. Or a decent game punctuated with two or three insignificant errors. The Portsmouth game was an example of this. Five or six Boro players worse than him on the pitch and it was him who was getting pelters.

I've said the same thing in a number of Engel threads in the past... Both Engel and Borges are good left backs, but any left back in our team is going to struggle because they get absolutely no cover.

Hackney doesn't cover his defensive duties as well as Morris (or Howson) does - He's always too far forward or too central...

... and whoever we play on the left isn't a natural left sided player (like Jones is on the right) - Azaz, Hamilton and Burgzorg are all too central and don't want to defend.
