Very true that. Was at depeche mode at twickenham the other week and Was exactly the same. Sad reallyI just got back from the Sunday gig... amazing musically but was well gutted by the crowd / phones! Guess live music will never be the same again and everyone keen to film sh*t wonky phone vids everywhere is now the new norm!
The urge to show others what they are missing more import than missing it themselves. The weird thing is they missed the performance to at least some extent, and will probably never watch the video.
A lose-lose scenario

My mate, who is a Millenial (not a Xennial like me) filmed 14 of the 25 tracks. I don't get it. He said it was probably the last time he'll see them so he wanted to film it 'for the memories'. I have never filmed a single song in my life, I would rather just live in the moment.I just got back from the Sunday gig... amazing musically but was well gutted by the crowd / phones! It is and I once saw a Chris Rock show with the same idea, I imagine most artists aren't that bothered though.Went to a Bob Dylan gig in France a few weeks ago
In advance it was billed as phone free,
If you brought your phone it was put into a secure bag and given back to you - they unlocked the bag at the end for you.
A great thing to do
Daaaa da da-da-da daaaa daaaThe other thing I hate about gigs now is fans singing/humming along to musical notes and basslines. Just a personal pet hate of mine, its a new thing and never happened until about 10-12 years ago.
Agree imagine Fleetwood macs the chain at a gig these days der der der der der derrrrrThe other thing I hate about gigs now is fans singing/humming along to musical notes and basslines. Just a personal pet hate of mine, its a new thing and never happened until about 10-12 years ago.
Yes! I don't understand how anyone, let alone the majority of the audience, think it sounds good. Sing along to the words - fine.Agree imagine Fleetwood macs the chain at a gig these days der der der der der derrrrr
I've seen loads of videos on YouTube and TikTok which were filmed by people so this doesn't seem to be a problemThe problem with videoing a performance at a gig is that the artists singining is usually drowned out by either the person videoing or someone near them wailing the lyrics at the top of their shireking voice so it ends up being ruined anyway.
Just enjoy the show!
Yeah the fact is you see phones in front of your vision the entire gig.. and the gig is filmed in HD by professionals so it's entirely pointless! Just say 'i was at that gig' whilst showing people the professional footage!
The crowd was a bit poor last night in genera, people kicking off because we were jumping and enjoying the gig.. my bro got started on for knocking into someones daughter! (We were in the middle of the floor at the front) so it's not exactly weird to want to jump and enjoy the tunes and get into it!
Absolutely fantastic gig for the music and band but the rest of it was pish poor!
yep we moved a few times to get into a 'good spot' with good people who were also vibing off the music and wanting to have a bounce! but i was genuinely surprised people would complain about that kind of behaviour in the floor of a blur gig!Must have been a bit unlucky where you were, crowd were great around us. Great vibe from all.
