Black man killed by police in Minnesota - new revelation

What are your thoughts on the police in general? You’re obviously an intelligent guy but I’ve noticed your very active on any thread with an anti-police / police negative thread and so come across as being anti-police / police critical? Of course you’re generally a very active member anyway, on other threads etc so I could be wrong.
My experience in the uk with the police has generally been good, ignoring lack of funds for proper crime detection. One of the things we can be very proud of is that our police don't carry guns. In most of Europe the police are also very good and they do carry guns.

I have lived for a short time in the US and have family live there. I think the police are awful in the US. I agree they have a tough job but I do wonder if the police in the US attract a certain type of person.

I am generally not negative about police officers as a group.

I thought that statistic was in general, I.e black men being gunned down by anyone.

The link I provided above says that for the last few years the numbers of black PEOPLE shot dead by the police each year was between 209-241.
... and from some previous statistic above, 90% were armed I believe.

He was polite and calm but he didn't do what the police were telling him to do.

He couldn't do what they were telling him, because they were giving him directly conflicting orders that were physically impossible to follow. In the video the police can be heard telling him, "Keep your hands outside the window!"

But then they were also telling him to get out of the car and onto the ground - which he can't do without putting his hands back inside the car and out of sight, to unfasten his seat belt.

As he says, he's afraid to do this - and with good reason. There have been recent cases where unarmed black men in their vehicles were shot while reaching for their registration and/or driver's licence. On one occasion this was actually in response to the police asking him to show his license and the person actually telling them that was what he was doing. They shot and killed him anyway.

He could have released himself and got out of the car and nothing more would have happened

The point I am making however, is that in the first instance you will always lower your chances of being shot by the police if you bow your head, keep your mouth shut and simply comply.
You keep ignoring the fact that he couldn't comply with the contradictory orders he was getting. It wasn't physically possible.

When wearing a seatbelt, it's impossible to get out of a car while at same time, keeping your hands outside the vehicle.

It's about 2.5:1 more likely to be killed by a cop if you're black rather than white.
So from a ratio of 700 non-black to 300 black shot dead by police each year you get to 2.5 times more likely to be killed by a cop if you're black.

Forgive my stupidity but could you show your working out ?

You must have watched a different video to me, I saw him struggle free from the police officers grip whilst outside the car, jump back in it and then get shot... have I seen the right video ?

There are more non-white people in the USA than black people. 12.2% of the US population are black.

Fair enough, but an little old lady doing her shopping shouldn't be included in those statistics.

How about the percentage of violent crime committed by each ethnic group, or the percentage of interactions of each ethnic group with the police and then give me the statistics.

This part of the discussion was about the US army medic who was pepper-sprayed, not the young black man who was shot.

Probably doesn't make any statistical difference tbh. There'll be little old black ladies as well as little old white ladies in the US. If you somehow found a way to remove them from your population figures it won't suddenly mean the ratio of black people to white people in America becomes 50:50.
