Black man killed by police in Minnesota - new revelation

You are probably right FC, we can't know her intentions, but it seems likely that given the arrest warrant the police would have approached the car with weapons drawn regardless of the man being black or otherwise. Once her weapon was drawn the mistake was already about to happen.
According to the police statement (which I quoted just above) they didn't know about the warrant until after they'd already got to the car and spotted an item hanging from the rear view mirror (the air freshener).

Maybe so but at what point were weapons drawn is the significant factor here in determining whether the man being black was relevant in the decision making process.

We all should admit to being racist to a point. It is natural, it is the way we have been brought up to view the world around us. The US police need to confront this. Boris Johnson's enquiry should have confronted this and some posters on these threads maybe need to pause and think through why they automatically take a certain side in these arguments.

Any one brought up in the 70's is internally programmed to be rascist, it's how we were educated ,informed and how we justified our position in history and the ( then) modern world.
thankfully a lot of us now have developed an immediate correct button to question any " intuitive " assumptions that still linger from that programming.
It's how you feel, believe, argue and demonstrate your racism ( small r) that determines if you are an actual Racist
Unfortunately ,some people have not progressed and still respond to the inner immediate trigger ( no pun intended) and pass on this ignorance to their progeny.

I don't want to put words into Robs mouth, but I think he is talking about how humans are quite tribal and naturally make judgements and decisions around people who are "outsiders" on a daily basis. Not just on race, but on all aspects of what makes a person - race, nationality, gender, and so on. And some of this behaviour is reinforced through years of hearing parents, grandparents, peers say negative thins about certain groups of people.

For example, if a group of people were placed together in a room - you would probably find that people of the same nationality, who knew the same language, and yes have the same skin colour, would gravitate towards each other.

You would probably find that this behaviour increases when the subject is put into a position of danger or confrontation (e.g. walking alone on a night).

I agree with Rob (or at least my understanding of what he said), but it is quite hard to articulate - especially as people are so scared of being labelled as a racist (because the social punishment is so severe) that it is hard to have a conversation about it without people keeping their guard up.
