Bitcoin News Thread

This is what happens to all fiat currencies eventually.
(Also see The Roman empire and the reduction of silver content in their coins before their fall).

Correct - but its a remote possibility still and in that remote possibility Gold can be used and would be accepted much of the time. Some people are talking about the Ukraine war spreading out of Ukraine and very likely will if Ukraine is given long range weapons. Also in the Middle East a Israel against Iran war looks a decent possibility. These wars could easily drag other Nations in.

Hence when major wars threaten the gold price rises.

With Bitcoin and Crypto I still think its early days - the stuff only been around for about 12 years and market is not fully developed hence quite large volatility. Central Banks are buying more Gold at present, are they also buying Bitcoin and other Crypto? and in the same quantities by value?
It’s not really a remote possibility it’s never going to happen. No one would benefit from the kill switch. The collaboration required in order to do it would be huge and global civilisation would collapse. Everything in our lives are utilising it on some level.

Bloomberg's ETF expert has seen nothing like the rise of the BTC ETFs:

There was some decent uplift overnight. As we approach the election it’ll start to pump

My BTC holding incs a decent amount of MSTR.
In this thread about share punts back in March:

I mentioned it when it was $1370 a share.
Since then it's had a 10 to 1 stock spilt.
It will open today at about $260 a share (which is $2600 pre spilt).
It may well have a Nasdaq and S&P 500 inclusion soon which will see passive flows.

Are you people trying to convince yourselves or everyone else with all these charts and ridiculous quotes?

No. You either get it or you don't.

I invest for a living, and will never have to work a 9-5 ever again.
I keep an open mind and put thousands of hours of research in.

There is no "no size fits all" portfolio for everyone. Investing is mainly about research and good behaviour.
This thread is just for those wanting the latest news.

But if you can't see that the tenner in your pocket is becoming more and more worthless I don't know what to tell you.

Not looked into it tbh. The be kind of got to the point where I’m not buying anymore just waiting to liquidate what I hold. If it’s in the Nasdaq it’s a sound bet. It takes a lot of regulation to get on there. Plus it’s Microsoft so it’s established brand

That "thousands of ours of research" is work. OK it isn't useful to society or in any way meaningful work but it is work nonetheless

it’s strange how you only hear about the people making their fortunes from Crypto but never anyone making a loss.
You only make a loss if you sell for less than you bought. I’ve held my initial investment since 2016 so I have at one point seen huge sums wiped off but the coins were still mine so you just sit patiently and wait for the price to increase again. There’s stories of mass losses all the time but it’s usually people who have not researched and not stored on a hard wallet. I know people who lost large amounts staking their coins with Celsius who went under. They’re now getting most of the money back. I don’t stake as it’s out of your control then but it can make u a decent amount in interest

I don’t need convincing I have the financial evidence. I have been investing since 2016 so the gains were astronomical. Retired 2 years ago at 42.
A few quick questions. Did you have to sell some of your BTC then, and if so what form do you hold it in now? Got a pension? Would you be happy holding BTC with Coinbase?
