Billy Sharp attacked

Needs a massive crack down - sniffer dogs and life time bans for anyone found with drugs or entering the pitch regardless of circumstances.

What’s it going to take? A player to get stabbed?

I have been in meetings with fans from other Championship clubs through the season and right through the campaign the Forest fan rep has been pointing the finger at terrible behaviour from some of his own fans and appealing for help. Whilst there has definitely been worsening behaviour throughout the Championship and football as a whole, Forest seems to have been a real hotspot and particularly of Forest fan on Forest fan. Home and away, they behave appallingly in the concourses, they steal seats that are closer to the opposition fans and force the ticket holders elsewhere, they clog the stairways and bring alcohol into the stands and take drugs in groups. I have heard report after report. Similar to what many reported from our last match away at Preston. As a supporter forum we want to tackle this and get all the supporters behind this, stop flares, particularly in concourses, stop groups pushing others out of their seats. If they have to be turfed out of stands for being aggressive to other fans etc then we need everyone to understand why? Not to rush to the defence of supporters that have been abusing their own fans. This behaviour is unacceptable and now we can see where it all can lead to.

What happened to Sharp was absolutely unforgivable obviously. Slightly different take on it though…

Players and managers need to have a look at themselves as well. Their actions are often way over the top and wind up fans (who are already passionate and drunk).

Players need to stop running into the crowd when they score to celebrate with them. How do they think this is ok but then they complain when fans run on the pitch towards them? Also the winding up of fans with goal celebrations. The fingers to the lips? Shouldn’t lead to fans charging the pitch but can’t help.

(Not suggesting for a minute Sharp did anything last night btw).

And Paul Heckingbottom? Condemning the violence after his actions with Djed unnecessarily wound up the whole crowd and led to a tense atmosphere?

Football is a big part of most supporters lives, and winning/losing a big game is emotional. Fans shouldn’t lose control, but players and managers need to understand how not to encourage these scenes.

Don't put fences up........

How on earth would that knob from the South Stand have got a selfie with Tav at the recent home game, tvvat

Those women on nights out shouldn’t wear skirts that are too short either.

Unfortunately the minority will spoil it for the majority who will go on to the pitch to celebrate a fantastic win, place at wembley & potential place in the PL

Why cant people just enjoy the occassion, but then again, cowards will always be cowards

I have a 17 year old daughter. When she goes out she wears what she wants.

However am I wrong to tell her to make sure she stays in a group? Not to walk alone at night down a dark alley? What kind of parent would I be if I didn’t have that conversation with her? It’s sad but that’s reality.

I get the point you are making. I’m not blaming victims here, honestly, just looking at provocations even if they make no sense to most of us.

With the Billy Sharp situation, he did nothing wrong. Period. But these atmospheres get tense when crowds get wound up, rightly or wrongly.

I get what you're saying but I think the bottom line has to be fans just aren't allowed on the pitch. It's unfair to expect players to take dogs abuse but not give a bit back if they score etc. It's what makes the game exciting, I wouldn't want players to be like robots.

There is nothing that players/managers can legally do during a game of football that can justify what this idiot has done.

If you can't take being part of a 30,000 crowd of people who are being wound up by a footballer without resorting to violence then perhaps you shouldn't be going to games.

Agree completely.

Fans cause the problems by getting too wound up and too beered up. I would happily have barriers to stop fans.

All I was saying is that players and managers should realise how stupid some fans are and not provoke them. What Heckingbottom did just wound up the fans unnecessarily. Still the fans fault though I agree,

Just to be absolutely clear, I wasn’t justifying it.

I would rather football stadiums were half full of "old school" supporters as opposed to stadiums filled with drunken, coked up pr1cks like this.
To be fair disorder at football matches isn't anything new, in fact it's just a case of rising again after the peak in the 70's.

And it's been rising for years, but not really publicised, until the last few years. Banning orders are often criticised but absolutely necessary in my view.

Yes but it's not an excuse. The same people would also get wound up in the pub or if someone looks at them in the wrong way. Getting tense, no matter what the provocation, is no excuse for violence. To lay part of the blame on Heckingbottom is wrong.
