For me it's hard to beat the "Albert Hall" 1966 Dylan bootleg. The contrast between the two "halves" is incredible (albeit apparently chemically fuelled).
The intensity of the electric side is unparalleled in my opinion - Dylan at his antagonistic best and the band absolutely on fire.
James Brown - Live at the Appollo
Sam Cooke - Live at the Harlem Club
Todd Rundgren/Utopia - Another Live
Live Dead
Max Cooper - Yearning for the Infinite (Live at the Barbican) - unbelievable visuals
Ravs, that's impressive - didn't realise the context to that particular piece of rock folklore!
That version of Rolling Stone gets me every time. I particularly like Bob's off-mic instruction to the band to "play it f**cking loud".
Were you at that gig?
Ha, that's class. No, changingman, I was 18 at the time, growing up in Canada. My family emigrated from Boro in 1957.
I knew of the ‘66 Dylan “goes electric“ tour as I had closely followed the evolution of The Band but didn’t know about this particular incident until Keith had told me about it in late ‘90s after the BBC had searched him out via newspaper requests and identified him. Folkie that he was, Keith was somewhat surprised by all the hoopla as he had more less deemed it not that significant and had practically forgotten about it.
Ha, that's class.
While we're on the subject we should probably add "The Last Waltz" to this list.
