Best 500 Albums - Rolling Stone Magazine

How can 500 albums ALL be a load of sh1te? I have not even listened to loads of them, but many fo them are excellent.
I wasn't very clear there. It's the very idea of ranking art of any kind in to list that irks me. Not the content of the lists themselves.

Jason Isbell has produced some stunning albums, the album you have just listened to "Southeastern" contains this devastating song.

Ignore the "Country" label this is a song that will punch you in the guts.
I think he's a friend of Slim Cessna's Auto Club, one of my favourite bands.

Having at long last subscribed to Spotify, I have decided to use this last part of lockdown to listen to all the Rolling Stone magazines best 500 albums one by one, to see if there are any classics or gems that I have missed out on. Starting at 500, I am down to no. 458. Mixed bag so far. Some albums are OK, and others I have not been able to cope with more than a couple of tracks.

But no. 458 is "Southeastern" by Jason Isbell. Stunning. Brilliant album. Chilled out county music.

I assume that by the time I get the the top 50, the albums will be a lot more familiar - Beatles, Radiohead, Queen etc. But I am enjoying the journey so far.
I have Spotify too steer, great for storing & listening to others who have great music taste like me 😉

The NME's top 100 is far better in my opinion, it's obviously more biased towards British bands though.

Couldn't even see it in the top 50, no Jam, Specials, SLF or Pistols either but Kanye West and Lauren Hill make it 🤔

That Kanye album is critically acclaimed and is a flawless hip hop record. Don’t write it off just because of the artist.

#497 Various Artists, 'The Indestructible Beat of Soweto'. I forgot all about this album....amazing summer bbq music. Highly recommended.

It is indeed a fantastic album. It led me to Sounds of Soweto, which is still one of my all time favourite compilations, even though I no longer own it.
