Bercow defects to Labour - Did not see that coming

I'll gladly have him. He joined the Tories as an admirer of the evil works of Thatcher but repented long ago and has also been educated by his better half. It's been a journey for him but he did heroic work as Speaker, holding out for truth and reason against the hard-right coup that now parades itself in government clothing.

His words on defecting are equally interesting and scathing:

"I am motivated by support for equality, social justice and internationalism. That is the Labour brand. The conclusion I have reached is that this government needs to be replaced. The reality is that the Labour party is the only vehicle that can achieve that objective. There is no other credible option.”

Adding this about Johnson:

‘‘He is a successful campaigner but a lousy governor. I don’t think he has any vision of a more equitable society, any thirst for social mobility or any passion to better the lot of people less fortunate than he is. I think increasingly people are sick of lies, sick of empty slogans, sick of a failure to deliver.’’

This will help those on the left of the party to welcome him. From John McDonnell:

"When he was Speaker, John Bercow was scrupulously fair in his treatment of Jeremy Corbyn and me, and all Members in the Commons. He won our respect, especially for his fight to protect the rights of Parliament. I wholeheartedly welcome him into the Labour party."

It frankly amazes me that not more reasonable and decent Conservatives are not doing the same thing. It is one thing being a Conservative, it is entirely another defending this government.
Some have left, people like Heidi Allen, Anna Soubry and Rory Stewart. Others are quiet backbench dissenters, others have been pushed out to allow hardline RWNJs to replace them.

She said she was a goer, and in the context you are alluding to?
Yes, she was talking about her life before she married bercow, she said she'd told him about all the one night stands she'd had and her drinking. She said I was a bit of a goer in those days,John knows all about it.. Rather honest of her.

And that is all that you can bring to the discussion?

Nothing about his act of leaving the Tory party and his reasons for doing so?

You appear quite engaged in other political discussions.
