Away ticket allocation idea

How do you think fans with the highest loyalty points actually get them?

But ultimately yes, if you don’t have the points but want tickets for big games, then attend some games. That’s the only way to guarantee a ticket.
How do you think fans with the highest loyalty points actually get them? - If I understand the system right, season ticket holders gain an advantage by receiving 140 points (or is it 70) at the start of the season for having a season ticket for two seasons or more.

But ultimately yes, if you don’t have the points but want tickets for big games, then attend some games. That’s the only way to guarantee a ticket. - So walk up fans wanting to attend big games have to make up the numbers at the away games that are undesirable, beggars can't be choosers kind of thing?

Walk up fans only receive one less priority point than season ticket holders if they go to every match the thing is season ticket holders pay for their tickets in advance so getting 70 points credited to their account.

Well yes that’s the system that’s been agreed between the club and supporters groups as the fairest system. When away ends sell out someone has to miss out, how else can it be decided fairly who misses out?

Maybe it could be suggested to the club that for a trial for next season that for the high demand games such as Sunderland, Leeds and maybe Huddersfield as well as any big cup games, that priority be given to those fans with no or very few priority points. After all that would still mean that those fans who go to most games should still be able to get tickets for the likes of Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol City etc.

Self interest groups.

Answer this hypothetical situation and it'll give a good idea on whether you care about fairness or not.

We get promoted and demand for tickets is greater than allocation for every game. 3k tickets available, 4k demand every game (same people every time). Is it more fair that the 3k people that go the first week get to go to every game and the other 1k go to none or is it more fair that all 4k get to go to 3 out of every 4 games?

I don't believe that scenario would bother them as long as they get a ticket.

Norman - Lets swap places for a moment - would you be pleased if I called you a Tufty Club member just because you choose to travel to Preston and Leicester this week to follow my team, your team?
Nano - the scenario doesnt work because it is not the same people attending every match.
And I cannot see why some have labelled the Leicester game as low demand. Yeah we lost on Saturday but surely the chance to see your team take on the league leaders is a very attractive away game. Especially when it is so much closer than going to Chelsea, QPR, Plymouth or Soton etc.

It's a hypothetical and it works perfectly. It's highlighting the fact that some people think they should never miss a match, no matter what situation and their definition of fairness is not the universally accepted definition.

Your hypothesis doesnt exist. And has never existed in our history.

Neither is your definition of fairness the universally accepted definition. Those who never miss a match have the points that they have built up over two seasons and that is the sole reason why if they choose they have enough priority points to ensure that. If you want to get a ticket guaranteed get a season ticket go to away matches and you will have enough points to go to the big games some crave. People who just want to pick and choose their games, or cannot afford a season ticket or going to away games is unfortunate but I do not see why they should have priority over those who put their money into the club for all away games.
I speak as someone who goes to a lot of away games but not all. I am getting sick of the travel, the cost and the constant dash back for the train home and I am reducing the number of games I go to. That will impact me next season on my priority points but so be it. If people have more points than me I have no issues with them getting first crack at tickets.
It seems that this issue is only brought up by those who don't attend every game(and there might be loads of reasons why, I understand that) but feel they should be able to get tickets for the so called bigger games. Its strange tough that they always seem able to attend the bigger games than a wet and cold Wednesday in Preston.
As for some people not being able to afford to go to every game or even have a season ticket I understand its difficult for some. But that is the way of the world. I would like to do lots of things that I cannot afford or justify expenditure but I cannot so that's just how it is.

That's not the point. It's a hypothetical for a reason otherwise I would have chosen an actual example.

In any case, it does exist. If we have 5 sell outs away a year there are people that think they should be front of the queue to all 5 because they have been to other games. The actual fair way of doing it is for everyone that wants to go to those games to have a chance to go to a proportional amount of them. It's not easy to do administratively but it would be fairer. If you go to one and someone that wants to go can't then they should be at the front of the queue for the next game. There is no argument that exists involving fairness that would have the people that got tickets to the first event to be able to skip to the front of the queue for the second.

There isn't a situation where a certain group of fans believe they should ever not get a ticket.

If you genuinely believe it's a situation that doesn't exist then we don't need a priority system, or an away season ticket.

The fans who attended the most away games in the championship would have the points so get tickets

The fans who didn’t fancy away games in the championship but suddenly get interested now the club is promoted wouldn’t be guaranteed a ticket

So yes, in that particular scenario that seems completely fair

The current away ticketing system is probably the fairest it's ever been.

The only way to improve it, is to amend the loyalty starting position.

At the moment, it's a closed shop in the sense that those born after 1995 are impossible to start on 160 points (as a gold card holder) at no fault of their own. It's actually a ridiculous decision by MFC to still adopt this.

Same with the chairmans drink starting position.

This should be opened up to everyone. For example, they could easily say:
*'Season ticket holders for 20+ consecutive years start on 80pts per season'
*'Season ticket holders for 10+ years start on 75 pts per season'
*'Season ticket holders for 1+ years start on 70pts per season'

Other than that, it's as fair as can be.

No loyalty scheme out there will keep everyone happy, it is what it is.

Many (in fact the majority) of our away games make general sale, it's not that difficult to start amassing points.

Well it's probably not the best time for this as I can't see many sell out away games for remainder of season ..
But, after searching QPR ticket info for a guide on how many tickets we get , I came across this

Due to supporters request
20% of all away tickets will be held back for General Sale..

Maybe a good idea ?

Im blessed personally with maximum points , but this does seem fair to let others get a chance ?

Thoughts ??

I don't see why anyone would be against that. Gives those that feel they have an entitlement to tickets before others what they want and allows other fans a chance at buying in-demand tickets.

The points reset every two years, everyone has the same opportunity to get the in demand tickets if they really want them

What people are really asking is they want tickets for when we are playing well and in with a chance of going up, but aren’t prepared to support the team when we aren’t doing well. But still want tickets over those who have followed the team regardless

Bang on.

They basically want the opportunity of bagging a ticket to Sunderland away, without putting in the miles.

I feel like that would be fairer using my own personal circumstances as a example.

Myself and my two sons are season ticket holders, go to every home cup game, but the only away games they can get tickets too are generally the longer distance or midweek fixtures.

So in reality the only chance they have of ever going to a Leeds/Sunderland away game is to pile the pts up on these fixtures, which they are unable to do, due to school and the fact one of them is actually a younger age group academy footballer, so trains sat mornings.

A ballot of 20, 15, or even 10% of an allocation for high demand tickets for lower priority point holders would at least give a chance for the in demand games. That being said, I completely agree with the current system, i just think this little tweak would show a little bit of compassion.

"It's fair because it benefits me the most".

How very Tory of you.

You could all pick up points this week in the school holidays v Preston and Leicester. Two games that are medium distance and against very attractive opposition.
