Assombalonga going?

Britts record in the championship:

14/15 - 15 goals (curtailed by injury)
15/16 - 1 goal (missed most of season)
16/17 - 14 goals
17/18 - 15 goals
18/19 - 14 goals
19/20 - 11 goals
20/21 - 4 goals in half a season

15 goals is a very good season for Britt rather than expected.
Bearing in mind he was injured for a chunk of last season I'd say those stats say 14/15 is actually more or less expected
Though he's not looking very likely to get it this season without a very quick improvement

The easy stick is 4 goals in 21 games this season.....
Agreed, he is better than he has performed this season, so I looked at his last 50 games and still not good enough although better than his last 21.

Another issue with Britt is how few goals he scored against the top teams. His 44 goals for Boro, only 9 goals are against top half teams and 35 against bottom half. In fact in 36 games against top 6 sides (finished top 6, or the current top six) he failed to score in 33 of those 36 games!!!

He simply cannot do it against a half decent championship defenders

14/15 was before his knee injury, not the same player since.

People would be better judging Watmore on a full season of games rather than 8.

I'm not knocking him, he's got a smashing attitude & hopefully will score many goals in the future but he's on a high at the moment induced by coming back from injury under a manager who rates him and starting well. It's too early to be calling him a world beater.
Let’s get him in the team then, see what he can do consistently.

I agree with what you're saying but he's not been injured for ages.
He just wasn't a guaranteed starter under Parkinson and League One ended early and never restarted.

He's been injury free for over a year, since October 2019.

Nobby you do write some tosh! We have 2 players whose scoring is equal if not better. Watmore cost nothing, Johnson a couple of million, both currently more valuable, more cost effective than Britt.
However this doesn’t suit your agenda - no matter how daft you look!
So you want Britt to leave because he cost more money than Watmore and Johnson....that's tosh !

I often agree with you but I think that's too harsh an assessment

It is harsh, and I wasn't meaning that he's 100% like that, more those attributes that he displays on occasions when on the pitch may be a reason as to why he has less minutes in the side now. If he was delivering a good performance without getting goals, he'd still be in. And obviously as a £15 million striker on a rumoured £35k a week in a Champo side that has had trouble scoring, those numbers are always going to mean his head is above the parapet (figuratively speaking) when he isn't performing.

To be honest, after the last half dozen games after the restart I thought he'd clicked with us and was looking great.

This season he looks to be going through the motions, maybe he knows he's not going to be here?

Nobby that is a ridiculous reading of my comment - I guess that’s the best you can offer. Poor come back - very poor. Still you can’t argue against fact and logic - something you would be suited in learning

Fact and logic ?
Fact - Britt is a 1 in 3 striker
Logic - We have no money, where are we going to find a better option ?

At the end of the day, money is not really the issue, Brit is out of contract in the summer so if he stays he will be on far less money. His sale value is minimal so if we if we were to sell him it's we are not going to be flush. At the moment we keep rotating Brit and Akpom. Neither are prolific scorers. Cannot se us off loading Akpom. IMHO we should look at the Bristol guy for a straight swap for Brit, may suite both clubs.

Who was our last 20 goal a season forward? The championship clubs who do well generally have a 18+ striker but I can’t remember the last time we had someone do that for 3 or 4 seasons in a row?

No he's not going....just SOME posters seem to want rid of him, even though they don't have any idea who we are going to replace him with !!!!

We've been linked with Famara Diedhiou, a striker who is also 1 in 3, also 28 and also on the last 6 months of his contract.
Literally told by Bristol papers that we've enquired about him.

Why would posters know the in’s and out’s of all the available forwards, that’s not their job, it doesn’t mean they can’t express an opinion on moving an existing forward on though.
