I would rather he leaves, he had a short spell when he looked OK but the majority of his time he's not been good enough for me

I would take it off the table now. We don’t have time to be messed about. We have been patient with him and he’s had plenty of backing from fans but if he feels he needs to leave I wouldn’t be bending over for him, let him go and will replace him. Simple really

The annoying thing is we've showed faith in him & for that very safe he should show a bit of loyalty, not that I want him to just looking at it from his point of view

Thought a while ago that Fletcher had turned the corner and was finally going to look the part and score a few goals. This year we are back to square one and we have to get him off the moneygoround. As said earlier offer him a contract but if he doesn't sign by a certain date move on to Plan B or C or XYZ.

He's never scored 15 goals so I'm not sure why he 'looks like he will'. He's the best of a very bad bunch. In 4 years he's done very little to justify us signing him. I would be gutted if we'd payed 2mil for him never mind 7
That doesn't mean he's worth keeping. He's often injured and I don't see many more than 10-12 goals a season. That's 'fine' but I imagine he's still wanting a few quid by champo standards. If he genuinely wants to stay then he would have signed a new deal months ago.
I'm not fussed either way. I guess it's a case of what we replace him with? I have little or no confidence in our ability to find a cheap 'gem' from somewhere or even find one if we spend a few quid.

He's got nothing in his locker, even when he went through a sort of 'purple patch', he was just OK, nothing more

Fletcher doesn't owe us anything and we don't owe him anything. It's the agent that owes Steve Gibson. I'll be glad to have seen the last of monks 31 million forward line.

I can only assume he is “pondering” the offer because it is so far down on what he is on now, in which case you can’t blame him for assessing his options. But whether he takes it or not will hopefully make very little difference to our wage bill, because we could easily find another run of the mill Championship squad player to pad out the forward line.

Could we find another run of the mill that is 25 years old with the potential to be top scorer again? And for the same wage we are offering Fletcher and presumably small transfer fee. Someone that will hit the ground running. Neil Warnock failed to find anyone to fit that bill this season and has said how difficult he has always found it through his career to sign goalscoring centre forwards.

Potential won't get you promoted, I would sooner we get a journeyman who has done it at various clubs, not saying that journeyman will bag the goals to take us forward but a misfiring Fletcher won't either
4 years "potential" with very little in the way of delivery over his time here ....move on his time is done
